The plot of Astroman! Sure it's not very original, as Astroman himself says "The classic schemes are so refreshing..." Production is slow seeing as how every room I come up with involves about sixteen new tilesets. But just to prove it has a set plan, here ya go.
Plot Synopsis:
A mysterious force known simply as “The Unknown” is gathering rings of old power. Its up to Astroman to gather them before it does.
Chapter 1, a child loses her mother’s ring. And believes it was brought to the Critter Cing. Astroman goes and gets it, a rather mundane task...
Chapter 2, on his way back to the apartment, Astro witnesses the Brigand Gang knocking over a jewelry store, the only thing stolen being a ruby ring. Astro chases them to their hideout in an abandoned pancake house. Fortunately, the Brigand King, Elrod Purvis, is too busy digging under their headquarters to notice.
Chapter 3, mysterious people begin popping up, preaching about the “favorite child of Eris, the Unknown.” While Astroman immediately suspects Garth Vader’s cultsman, Superfrench arrives, her training at the Magical Mystery Tour interrupted by a powerful monster wielding a glowing Amethyst ring. Curious.
Chapter 4, after stopping the monster of the week, and perusing the self named prophets, another jewelry store is robbed in another town, this time by a group of clowns. Astroman’s next stop, Booze-o’s circus. And there’s rumor of an exceptionably shiny Emerald ring involved...
Chapter 5, having collected four of the powerful rings, Astroman is approached by the Cult of the Unknown, seeking to add “his collection to theirs.” He’s essentially invited to the heart of the beast, free to grab the Onyx ring and run. It can’t be that easy, can it? Spoiler: no it can’t.
Chapter 6, The Unknown has revealed himself, and only the Diamond, most powerful ring of them all, remains. It’s a race through the rubble of the newly-felled Lando Field to find it. Astroman finds it quickly enough, but the Cult has a secret weapon up their sleeves. So close, but the final ring gets taken home to Unknown.
Chapter 7, Quick! After that ring! There’s no telling what dangers Unknown can create with it. Bt inside his fortress, he’s summoned the most dangerous foes you’ve faced, and he is using his powers to make them even deadlier. This is the final countdown. Astroman, GO!
Major Side Quests:
The Moch-Aid Challenge! The Moch-Aid Headquarters has opened a contest. Whomever can defeat all of their chosen champions wins a free lifetime supply of Moch-Aid! Prepare to fight the likes of the Underkegger, Diet-Generation X, Kane-a-kola, and finally the Moch-Aid man himself! (Note, repeatable for all three classes of Moch-Aid)
Fan fiction in motion! Samantha Cing has secretly built a fan game around Astroman’s exploits, and Astro finds it. Curiosity leads to conflict, as Astro plays it without her consent, or knowledge, really. Does he have the skill to bring himself, Happyman, and The Hippie to soundly defeat the notorious... Candyman?
The Dreamworks. Every Hero has an origin story, and late in the game you have the opportunity to explore them. Events both mechanical, mystical and mundane take you into the memories of your champions, reminding them why they do what they do, and unlocking their true potential. Each wins their ultimate weapon, and renews their vigor.
The Warworld. A strange portal to another realm has been ripped open by the Unknown’s flagrant use of his powers. On the other side, a war rages on, with strange technological monstrosities fighting a raging horde of sub-humans. Astroman has no stake in this battle, other than keeping it from spilling over to his. You must choose a side, and fight for peace. Do not worry about playing the good guy...
The Temple of the Creator. A massive feast is being held in an old temple. Many people are interested, but few wish to go, since the place is crawling with otherworldly creatures taking part. There will be lots of eating, lots of drinking, lots of joking, and lots and lots of fighting. And should Astroman and friends succeed, the blessing of the Creator himself will be with them.
There are many minor quests available as well. It is up to the player to find them, and complete them. They stem from simple, to extravagant, and rewards range from unique trinkets to new heros.
Prophet: The time of chaos is not coming, brothers! Indeed, it has always been! ... Things WILL fall apart! The Center WILL NOT hold! ...
