DSi

Post by Mogri »

Guys, I am posting this from my new DSi. It's pretty awesome. Unlike the Wii browser, the DSi browser is free (and they give you 1000 points to start with on top of that). I was ready for it to be a pretty bad browser, but it's actually quite good.

Hooray DSi!

Oh, and I just noticed that you can also write by hand instead of using the keyboard, but it's way slower.

Yeah, that part's a pretty big drag, but there are a lot of other cool things to it. Though it's not like I could afford one anyway.

Virtual Boy.

(Seriously, Virtual Boy had a few awesome games, most notably Terero Boxer.)

I might actually get one of these... once they're not new anymore and the price goes down, just like every other piece of videogame-related stuff I ever buy.

I don't have a wireless internet connection (stuck with slimy old dial-up), but that's not much of a problem for a portable system, since I could always just carry it someplace that does have Wi-Fi (like school) and download stuff while I'm there. How much stuff can you actually get with the 1000 free points?

Currently, they have three tiers of stuff: 200 point stuff, which all royally sucks, 500 point stuff, which seems decent, and 800 point stuff, which is where the good stuff is. I have my eye on Mighty Flip Champs right now, but I haven't spent my points yet. I'm also thinking about Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Return of the Minis, since the level editor + downloadable levels = unlimited playtime, but I'm not sure how well I'd like that game.

you can buy a lot of games, some of the better then the others. a friend of mine was telling me that you could download whole games onto your DSi for like 5k+ points. im not too sure as far as how that goes. but thats what he told me. wonder if u can get any of the older GB and GBA games that way, would make up for that fact that you can play them on the system itself.

A new DS game costs $20-40, if they were charging 5000 points ($50) to download them that would be stupid as slime and no one would ever buy them.

No, you can't download retail releases on the DSi. No, you can't download GB or GBA games.

I have M vs. DK: March of the Minis (not the DSi game), and it plays much like Lemmings with some Donkey Kong 94' elements.

I'll stick with my fat DS and my CycloDS, until I can get a DS-Lite (stupid DS-fat doesn't work with my 3-in-1 adapter, so no GBA homebrew as of yet :\).

Yes, I only use it for backups and homebrew. Who would use it for anything else?

Speaking of homebrew, Puzzle Maniak alone is worth the ~$30 you'll spend on a card, unless you just hate puzzle games. Kukulcan is another excellent puzzle game.

Puzzle Maniak makes up 90% of my wife's DS time, even though she still buys new games now and then.

Trading a DS in for a DSi is a waste.

That's true. I didn't do that, though.
