OHR is leaking

Post by The Wobbler »

So, has anyone else been contacted by this Brothersoft site about hosting their games? I got two e-mails, one telling me that they were going to host Walthros and one telling me that they're going to host Walrus Chef. Asking for permission would be slightly more polite, but hey, it's better than nothing.

To my surprise, they didn't actually HOST the games, but instead used forwarding links to send people to my site to download them, which I'm totally fine with. It got Walrus Chef 59 downloads in a couple of days.

Has anyone else heard from these guys? The site's not very reputable looking and hosts ROMS as "freeware." I don't know how to feel.

Nope, never heard of them. I still see links to my games in the randomest places, though.

I'd be weary of granting anything based on this:

The virus is troubling, but all the other two mean is that they have Kazaa available for download. Anyone who uses Kazaa nowdays has that coming to them.

Huh, that is pretty bizarre. I'd be furious if they were distributing my software with viruses added in, but I'm not sure what they're accomplishing otherwise.

The number of fairly shady websites that link to wandering hamster is huge. Such sites generally just want to link to lots of stuff to get their own traffic higher to make more from ads.

Upload it to download.com (reputable site) and shady sites will start distributing it.

Going to go ahead and say this wouldn't really make sense.
