Barnabus Review 8 - EZ Art Tutor

Post by Spoonweaver »

This is game 8 of 30 games by Barnabus.

The title screen plays RPG music and states boldly the game's title in front of a blue checkered background.

The game starts and scroll lock kicks in, this is a mouse game. An art teacher (who's rather badly drawn himself) begins to instruct you how to use this game to draw pictures. This seems to be a paint program. He's soon done speaking and the pokemon theme song begins blasting ( It might have just been me, but this song seemed to be a bit too loud. ).

This is the part of the game where you get to draw. The pixels you use are a bit larger however. Basically, barnabus set up a script to change the tile color of the map. So you can draw pixel art using all of 8 colors. Not that impressive. What is impressive is the Art teacher's comments. He seems to know what you've drawn. I assume it has something to do with the amount of each color you've used. Kinda nifty. I think I've seen all the different things the Art instructor has to say and other than that there doesn't seem to be anything else in this game.

The programs not that bad, though I could see a pixel based program being made with the OHR without too much more work.

It's the Pokémon anime's theme. The only time isn't too loud is when it's muted. XD

Anyway... I'm not sure how, but I somehow completely missed the "comments from the art teacher" feature. I guess I'll have to go back into the game again to try and see how to get that to happen.
