My spirit died there, long ago in my youth.

With a reactionary, confirming nod, although the man cannot see it. "Is there anything I should know journeying to your home land, and the mountains?"

"Don't go alone.
But this is true for any journey,
any journey ever undertaken."

"The nest of the sun is further away than you think,
Far past the place where you can go forward, and back,
but a single step to the side,
may lose your path for a lifetime,
all the way to the place where there are more forwards than there are backs,
and you can't turn far enough in a full circle to go back the way you came."

The Poet stands, takes the blanket off his cot, and then lays down, pulling it over himself like he is about to take a nap.

For a moment it seems like he is done talking, then he says;

"My advice..."

"When I pick up and carry young Pibi, I know his name before I lift him up. I know his name as I carry him, and I still remember who he is when I put him down again."

"Make sure you know who you are carrying."

And he says nothing more, just gentle breathing that slowly gives way to a snore.

With a flicker in his eye, Hyne tries to ponder the last advice given, but he is unsure how to contextualize it in his current situation. Seeing as the monk has fallen asleep, Hyne recognizes that it is time to move on, but his plans may need to be altered for the rest of the night.

Perception: 1D20+3+3 => (15 + 3 + 3) = 21

He knows the pirate had been following him, he just doesn't know where she decided to be. He visually clears the current room before making his way to the door and carefully making sure he won't be ambushed in the hall. He keeps his main hand close to his heart, where he can quickly slide it under his jacket if he needs his dagger.

Hyne does not spot any ambush in the hall, and makes his way carefully out of the apartment building.

Out in the courtyard, the kobold grandmothers are still playing cards. Little Pibi bounces on one of their knees.

Footsteps are coming from the domed temple; boots clicking and echoing on that big tile floor under the telescope. The footsteps are soft, like somebody trying to walk quietly, but not having any skill at it.

The narrow alleyway stretches away, east and west.

the back of the temple and the facade of the Alms House For The Poor both look climbable.

Maybe also roll either a hide or stealth check for your pursuer to roll combatively against

Hyne quickly scrutinizes the possible escape routes.

While it would be easy enough to run either way down the alley...

The apartment building has an easily-reachable fire-escape, and the buildings here are close enough to make juping from rooftop to rooftop possible.

The decorative exterior of the back of Ayailla's would be an easy climb. There are some balconies up there on the second and third floors, and above that, what looks like it might be a maintenance door to the telescope dome itself. It might also be possible to get to the roof of the adjacent temple on the right, but it is hard to tell for sure from this angle.

Hyne quickly casts a spell, calling upon unknown divine powers from nature to hinder visual and auditory detection. He pulls himself onto one of the balconies and rolls onto his back onto it to hide himself from watchers from below. If there is enough time, he'll pull himself on the wall from there and make his way to the maintenance door and enter it.

With magical stealth, Hyne scales the back of the temple, first to one of the balconies, and then quickly up to the maintenance door, and inside.

The door opens to a catwalk connecting to the telescope, The dome is close overhead, and there is empty space all around, though from Hyne's current position, the tiled floor below is not visible.

What is visible, is a thin slit of light through the crack of the closed access door, where Hyne can see back out into the courtyard he just escaped.

The woman he saw before strides into view. She glances rapidly between the two alleyways, her red braid bouncing as she does.

She turns around to face the Kobolds.

"Which way did he go?" she demands. Her hand moves to rest on her sword.

"Which way did who go?" cackles one of the grandmothers, laying down two cards, and drawing two cards.
