"There are plenty of ways to cure Lycanthropy. Most of them would return you to a dog. I believe the best way to cure your situation would be to gain a wish somehow. I am not sure how you could get one of those aside from those dangerous cards."
"King Stephen could fix you right up if he was not dead. Of course, if he was alive we would not all be cursed." Claude looks at Lynda and Kalar. "So you don't waste a question, King Stephen cursed the kingdom when someone in our family attacked him. That is why we are all cursed. That is all I really know on the subject. I was not very involved in the gossiping that was occurring at the time.

That... That is surprisingly very helpful and useful information...
Charles talked about breaking a curse, so it must be the curse of this King Stephen fellow. And that would explain why all of the Clovers seem to be trapped here, and why more than a few seem to be quite insane.
This raises all sorts of possibilities... If King Stephen's curse were to be broken, then perhaps there's a chance that the curse placed on him would be broken as well, without reverting to a dog. Even more incentive to break the curse.
"Lynda, my dear, I'll wait for you to ask your question, then let's meet up with the others and tell them this information."
He pauses a while, then says, "On second thought, ask your questions, then we'll wait for Hrulgin to return with the gold, so that we can get Charles' books and bring them to him."

Giving up on trying to move Gontort, Tammytharn glares at the fortune teller. "What do you have to say for yourself?" she asks.

Galse and Rachelle watch as Hrulgin cross through the lab. He then crosses back again a while later, carrying an oversized bag that seems to be full of coins. Hrulgin has trouble climbing with the bag full of coins but manages his way into the black room and then the red room. The red man eyes him with contempt as he passes through.
Tammytharn gets no reply from the old lady. In fact, the old lady flickers out of existence moments after Tammytharn asks her question. Tammytharn looks towards Lynda and the werewolves. She watches and Hrulgin returns to the room and hands a large sack full of coins to one of the werewolves. It's faint, but that werewolf looks a lot like Kalar. The tower shield is his and the fact that Hrulgin is serving him adds to the evidence. Tammytharn is pretty sure that werewolf is Kalar.
Hrulgin has brought back 2,000 gold. "I figured I'd bring as much as I could carry in case we need more. I could have brought more but it was taking a while to collect it all.

Tammytharn looks over the cards, but does not touch them. She decides she needs to find some incense and to carve some sticks for Augury focuses before she returns here.
She crosses the hall and looks in on Lynda and the Werewolves.
"Kalar?" she asks "What HAVE you done to yourself?"

"Ah, Tammytharn, good to see you. I had no idea you were here. As you can see, I have run afoul of some enchantment which led to my transformation into this." Not entirely a lie.
"As I have discovered though, attempting to break this enchantment will make the situation worse and turn me into a dog." Also not entirely a lie.
"I do believe the situation has something to do with that lady with the magical cards." Stretching it, but Claude did say that the curse could be broken by the magical cards, so also not exactly a lie.
Kalar then notices Hrulgin and says, "Ah, Hrulgin, excellent. Thank you for bringing the money."
Kalar counts out the required gold pieces and places them on Claude's desk. "Lynda, I'll leave you to ask Claude your questions, but for now I do believe I shall leave the room so as to not inconvenience him further." More quietly, he says, "See if you can do anything about that silver key he's wearing. I'd rather not ask him for more favors seeing as how he's already done a lot for me. Wouldn't be wise for me to ask for more."
With that, Kalar gathers Charles' books, thanks Claude, and then leaves to the hallway to wait with Hrulgin.

Lynda thinks long and hard about what to ask Claude. He was an asset for discussion, but like most, was not interested in adventurers barging in and asking a bunch of questions. Lynda decided what she should ask.
"Currently, we are looking for a bunch of items. The sword of Sylaire, the Ring of Eibon, the viper circled mirror, and a potion of time travel. What can you tell us about these items?" Lynda says.
"You also mention this Prince Stephen fellow, and how one of your family members did this. Is there anyone in your family who would know more about this subject?"
"With those answered, I'll leave you to your studies."

Claude looks at Lynda. He seems a bit disappointed by the questions. "None of those items can be found within the castle. From what I have come to understand, these items are scattered around the Kingdom of Averoigne. I do not know exactly where they can be found. As far as more information on Stephan, I do not think you will be able to get very much information out of any of the family members here. They are all quite mad you know. All I know about Stephan is that he began reading very evil books towards the end. Also, that he was definitely dead and buried. I am not even sure it was Stephan that caused the curse. The timing of curse and the coronation of Henry was too perfect to not be related." With that Claude picks his book back up and starts reading.
It's not long before he stops reading and lets out a long sigh. "I am sorry for my bluntness. A group such as yourselves comes through here twice a month. The truth is these groups are the only hope to break this curse. After so many groups, I try to only help the groups that seem to have the best chance. Your group does not seem to be doing so great. I saw that dwarf die over there. How many others in your group have already died? Your group seems no where near as skilled as some of the groups that have come before you. You also have not even mentioned the key around my neck. Maybe you should just make yourself at home in one of the rooms here. I believe there is an empty room down the hall."

Tammytharn takes the hint, and moves into the hall, but stays within range to talk to Kalar. Kalar is being polite? He must be REALLY worried about this situation, Tammytharn thinks.
"So wait, you have TWO curses? And you think the lycanthropy curse can be lifted, but the dog curse cannot?"
She glances at the other werewolf in the library.
"I can guess where the lycanthropy came from, but where did the dog-curse come from?"

Lynda sighs at Claude's discontent.
"Well I'll keep my word and finish with my questions. But...four. A plucky man died to a trapped safe. A bard was ripped to pieces by an alligator in a river. One mage was murderous, and was killed after he attempted a murder. Finally, that dwarf over there, to the tarot card. I do agree, our party is in a hard state, so I don't blame you for not having faith in us. However, we're still standing, so I don't see the point in laying down to die."
"I take it that your key is one of the ones for the so called silver gate, which we seem to have found. We've found a couple of the keys so far, and I only assume that's another one. If you want to give it to us, we'll gladly accept it. But if you rather keep it, I myself won't grovel over it, having bothered you enough already."
"I suppose I'll get out of your hair now." Lynda says, giving a curtsy. "Thank you for your cooperation."
She begins to leave the room for the hallway.
"I hope he'll call me back and give me the key..." Lynda thinks as she leaves.

Claude waves his hand and gentle closes the door behind Lynda.

"Damn...guess that sort of thing only happens in the stories." Lynda thinks to herself. "Well, it'd look really bad to go back and beg for the key, so I'll leave that deed to someone else. Guess I'll go scouting."
She decides to turn left, and peer in to the door on the right wall of the corner where the hall bends.

"Yes, it would indeed seem to be two curses. The lycanthrophy was done to cancel out the first curse which came around after viewing some magical item." Kalar nods towards the room with the woman and the cards.
"I might find a way to lift a curse with another card, but seeing what happened to Gontort, I will not risk it." Kalar says 'another' card, hoping that that will be taken to mean that he drew a card prior when actually the first card he's referring to is Gontort's.
"You have some divine powers, as do I. I'm fairly certain that it is in both our powers to get rid of the lycanthrophy, but I was told the first curse will not be so easy to be rid of. The man Lynda was talking to back there said that King Stephen would have been able to break both curses, but he's dead now. That, and it was his death that caused this entire castle to be cursed. I figure that if his curse is broken, then that could lead to mine being broken as well."
Kalar sees Lynda leaving the library and scouting ahead. "Ah, Lynda has returned." He gestures to both Hrulgin and Tammy. "I believe we should follow her, make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble. As beaten up as we all are, wouldn't do to take any more casualties."

The room Lynda opens, holds a single bed and typical bedroom furniture. Other than t furniture, the room appears to be empty.
Galse and Rachelle look at each other and shrug.

Kalar hopes that Lynda doesn't run into anything too dangerous. Besides, they should be heading back to tell the others what they've learned. That, and get Charles his books and gold in exchange for the sword.
