"Why would you want to keep him around? He hadn't been with us ten minutes, and already he's gone and killed someone without any provocation!"
Under her breath, she added "...and defaced that painting."
She sighs, and stands to the side of the corridor. "Go on ahead, but I'm not helping him here."

Kalar raises an eyebrow at Rachelle.
"Because I gave my word to do everything in my power to get us all out of here, of course. As abrasive as he may be, he was part of our caravan, and is as trapped here as we are. That makes him one of us, and I keep my word."
With that, he moves in to cover Gantort, preventing the warforged from ganging up on him. Kalar is cautious, using every trick he knows to keep himself alive while striking back at the warforged. He will, of course, prioritize defense, as Gantort can take care of the killing part of the battle.

Kalar charges in. He attacks the warforged that's circling around behind Gontort. Finding it slow moving compared to what he's faced recently, he easily sinks his pickaxe into the head of the metal man. It falls.
Gontort looks back and grins.
"Couldn't keep away, eh?"
With that, Gontort and Kalar face off against the remaining two warforged. A quick series of attacks and arrows coming in from Lynda drops the two warforged with no further injury to Gontort and no injury at all to Kalar.
Gontort takes a moment after the fight to remove the spear from his back. He does a stretch and looks around, seeming to not really understand the things in this room.

Lynda decides to investigate the room.

Kalar resists the urge to smack Gontort upside his head for charging in blindly. At least he seems to be suffering no lasting injury. Instead, he grins right back at Gontort and says, "Well, you know me, could never resist a good scrap." Kalar shudders inwardly at that, but for now he needs the dwarf to like him. Especially considering how Tammytharn and now Rachelle seem to be taking umbrage to his actions.
While Lynda examines the room, Kalar goes from warforged to warforged, driving his war pick into the foreheads of each of them. He remembers what happened with Silas, and he wants to be doubly sure none of these are getting back up.
While he does that, he also takes the time to examine what gear the warforged may have had, along with any of their weapons for anything that might be useful.

The weapons the warforged were using seem crude. Altogether there are a pair of swords, a dagger, a warhammer, a trident, and the spear Gontort pulled out of his back.
This room contains a number of large metal vats and cauldrons, some
of which contain irridescent, frothy liquids. Magical symbols are
engraved on each vat and cauldron. There are many tables and shelves
holding flasks and vials of various liquids, solids or powders. There are also warforged parts hanging in the room in an orderly fashion.
Lynda finds a large book open to pages that look to be describing how to construct warforged. She doesn't understand any of the steps. Under the table the book is set upon, Lynda finds a large iron safe
stashed away.

Although Kalar is miffed that the weapons aren't worth all that much, he nevertheless takes the spear. He slips it into the holder at his back where his javelins were stored. Now that he only has the one javelin left, it might be a good idea to restock.
Kalar uses his healing skills to examine the flasks and vials. There might be something there that he recognizes that has medicinal value.

Lynda takes one of the Warforged's dagger. She takes the book about Warforged and hands it to Kalar.
She takes one of the swords, and dips its blade into one of the mixtures in a cauldron, out of curiosity.

Kalar is alarmed that Lynda took the book. He's heard stories about magic users laying all sorts of insidious traps in their research, ready to go off should the wrong person get their hands on it. Thinking quickly he says:
"Lynda, my dear. Considering I seem to have a problem right now of suddenly bursting into flames, it might be wiser if you kept a hold of that book. I shall look it over once we are both free of our respective curses."
Kalar does take notice of the large iron safe under the table where Lynda took the book. He's curious about it, but would rather not risk taking another curse on, much less a face-full of poison.
"Gontort, my friend. There's a safe over there, and I was wondering if you could help me out? You're much stronger than I am, so I was wondering if you might be able to get it open. I would be much indebted to you."

Kalar finds 2 flasks that seem to hold health potions, at least as far as he can tell. Another 4 seem to be a weird type of health oil. He also finds 8 other flasks that he's sure have some sort of magical properties, though he didn't detect for that. There's also a flask carrying case that he finds. It can carry 10 flasks safely.
Lynda dips the sword into the caldron. It bubbles up and she nearly avoids getting some of whatever is in there on her hand. She takes the sword out and other than being covered in a purpleish-brown gunk, the sword seems unaffected.
Gontort looks over at Rachelle and sees how she has not entered the room. He looks around and nods. He leaves the room.

Kalar takes the flasks and the flask carrying case. Perhaps Charles might know more about them, should they manage to get back up there. He might also have information about who ran these labs. Kalar resolves to head back to see Charles soon. It'll also probably be a better place to rest than down here, but that's still hours away.
He watches as Gontort leaves, and is slightly miffed that the dwarf ignored him. Can't be helped he supposes.
"Lynda, my dear. Would you be so kind as to inspect that safe? We need to check if there's another of those silver keys in there. I'll keep watch and make sure that nothing attacks you while you open it. I would have one my my undead minions do it, but as you can see, I am fresh out, sadly."

Lynda decides to inspect the safe. However, she remembers the when she first met the party in the castle. One of them was dead as a doornail, in front of a mauled safe. Lynda decides she'll have to be careful so she doesn't meet the same end.

"Here." Kalar hands Lynda the trident from one of the warforged. "You might be able to open it from a distance with this. Or at least be able to pry it open."

Lynda takes the trident, and warily attempts to open the safe with it.
