Rachelle does her best to try and break free of the rings, unable to do much else at this point but think about what part of the monster she should bring her halberd down onto the moment she regains movement.

Kalar inspires his party to defeat this monster.
Having missed horribly last round both Lynda and the skeletons strike back. Two arrows tear into the beast, one puncturing an eye. The skeletons clawed at the swarm of tentacles. What was at first a pointless effort, has become a flurry of offense. The score three attacks between them.
Rachelle struggles to do something, while Galse and Tammytharn hear the action grow.
The monster's tentacle wraps around Kalar and hoists him up into the air.

The fighting continues. Lynda's arrows both hit their mark again, she wonders how many of her arrows she'll need before this thing stops.
One of the skeletons drags Rachelle away from the monster as the other grapples into the monster, trying to free Kalar. Kalar himself tries to focus on his undead minions more than to free himself.
The beast wiggles in an arcane fashion at Lynda. Purple balls of magic shoot at at Lynda but have no effect on her.

As Kalar begins to struggle to free himself and damage the tentacled horror, his skeletons claw at the thing with all their might. The slash into it. Lynda lands her 5th and 6th arrows into the wiggling mass. Thats when one of the tentacles grabbed her. Lynda joined Kalar in the air, hoisted there by the monster's fleshy appendages. Kalar grunts as he's squeezed.

The skeletons deal 3, 6, and 5 dmg, followed by another 5 and 4.
Lynda deals 3,4,7,5,6,3 dmg.

"How uncouth! I've heard far too many stories of young women in this situation to know how it's going to end!" Lynda thinks to herself.

She tries to take out both of her daggers and tries to stab at the tentacle.

Rachelle didn't like being dragged away from the fray, especially by skeletons of all things. Sure, she couldn't actually do anything about it at this point, other than continue to struggle to try and get free, but the moment the rings faded...

Galse shows up just in time to see Kalar burst into flames.

A screech escaped the monster's maw. It dropped Kalar and in it's flailing dropped Lynda as well.
Rachelle was free as well, whether it was because of the fire or the spell wearing off didn't matter to her as she attacked. She hacked at the monster just as Lynda stabbed with her daggers and the skeletons clawed with their hands. Rachelle was the most successful with her attack, tearing off a huge chuck of monster flesh. Lynda didn't manage to pierce the monster's skin, but the skeletons both landed an attack each. Kalar put himself out and readied himself to attack.

The beast, looking sluggish from it's wounds, wiggled in an arcane manner. A cone of searing flame shoots from it's tentacle tip. The skeletons are destroyed and Rachelle and Kalar are burned by the spell. Lynda seems unaffected.

Rachelle deals 11 dmg.
Skeletons deal 3 and 6 dmg.

Rachelle takes 7 fire dmg.
Skeletons take 10 and 9 dmg, and are destroyed.
Kalar takes 13 fire dmg total.
The monster takes 4 fire dmg.

Singed from the fire, Rachelle continued hacking away at the monster, aiming in its general direction but hoping to get rid of the tentacle that cast the spell. She hardly noticed that Kalar's skeletons were now more or less piles of ash.

Kalar loses it.

First the bursting into flames, then more fiery attacks, and who knows what the crap biscuit else might follow.

His closely guarded facade of calm and stoicism falls away and his face twists in rage. He lets out a roar of defiance, all rationality and reason stripped away in the heat of battle and post-combustion pain.

He raises his war pick dashes up the wall in a beeline towards the monster, forgetting all thoughts of defense in his bid attack it from above drive his war pick into its ugly burn-inducing face. The entire time, he is screaming all sorts of obscenities at the monster.

To Hit: 4 (BAB) + 1 (Weapon Focus) + 2 (STR) + 1 (On higher ground) = +8
Damage = 1d6+2 ×4
AC: 10 + 4 (Armor) + 6 (Shield) - 1 (DEX) = 19

Outburst

Once per day for up to 4 rounds a maenad can subjugate his mentality. He takes a -2 penalty to Intelligence and Wisdom but gains a +2 bonus to Strength.

Everyone rushed in. Rachelle slashed with her Halberd. Lynda shot with her arrows. Kalar struck with his pickaxe. Galse even attacked with his quarterstaff. Hit after hit connected. The beast succumbed to the overwhelming wave of attacks. It slumped over, gushing gallons of vile fluid all over the corridor floor.

The battle was over. The party looked around, taking note of their injuries and losses. Lynda's scarf had fallen away from her face. She shouted a terrible string of profanities before she covered her mouth back up.

Kalar takes a few breaths to steady himself, willing his composure and calm back into place. It's difficult to do, with the blood still pumping from battle, and his flesh still slightly toasty from the fire.

Eventually he manages though, and finds himself back under his own control. He raises his holy symbol and <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/cureLi ... ">heals</a> himself as best as he's able to.

"Right, lads, anyone else badly hurt? I can patch you up a little, but I would suggest seeing our strangely absent Tammytharn for that, as she may be a better healer than I."

Kalar kneels down to the ashes of what were once his skeletons. He takes one of the glass flasks from before and puts as much ash as he can into one of them. Might be useful down the road, waste not, want not.

He stands and says to Lynda, "My dear, I believe you wanted to return to the men in the cells? We shall do so, soon as we see if there's anything of worth in this room. As Rachelle will no doubt be having her wounds seen to, would you please be so kind as to lead the way? I shall cover you from behind."

"Hmm, that's not too far off from what I'd say...I can even use some of those words for when I get my voice back...IF I get my voice back, that is." She thinks.

Lynda looks at Kalar, and then nods in agreement. She peers in to the room the beast emerged from.

(Kalar listen check)
Kalar hears a quiet screech when he heals himself.

Lynda looks in the room. This room is equipped somewhat like an alchemist's laboratory, though most of the equipment looks unfamiliar. There are a number of knives, scissors and other surgical tools. Some shelves on the wall seem to hold some alchemical materials. A pile in the corner seems to be full of clothing, weapons, and armor A metal table stands in the middle of the room. On it is strapped a human male with his head opened up. Lynda looks at the person, he seems so familiar. Then she remembers. His name was Francis Gushmon. He was a ranger and part of the larger party. Lynda had thought he was cute once. She looks at his head. It's opened right around the brain with a near perfect cut. His brain is exposed and seems to have been cleaned off somehow.

Kalar pauses at that. Then, to experiment, he tries <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/cureMi ... healing</a> himself again, keeping an ear out for any other sounds.

"If I could speak, I'd voice my utter disgust." Lynda says.

She goes over and takes a pair of scissors. She then takes some of the clothing, and then promptly leaves the room again. She looks to Kalar to see what he does.
