The small redish bug seemed to chuckle as it cast an odd spell towards Arden, the mouse and the beholder in frog form. Fire erupted all around them. The flames were made worse as the carpet fire grew closer. Arden was burned as the flames licked his armored legs. The small redish bug flew out of the burning room towards the others, easily zipping over the barrier of blades. The frog and mouse were trapped. The fire seemed to be moments away from engulfing the tomb they were in. Large flames separated Arden from the mouse and frog.

Fooosh, Kalar's whirling fangs reappeared tearing into one of the kythons. This proved too much for it, and it fell in a heap on the ground.
The Alpha werewolf felt the sting of Kalar's fangs as well. He had to jump away as they tore into him to avoid major injury. The avatar flew above the action as the Kython stabbed at the Alpha werewolf then with their wick spikes. Seasoned as he was, he avoided some of their attacks, but not even he could avoid them all. The acid tore into him, bringing him to the pinnacle of pain.
Then a feeling of relief flowed over the Alpha. The acid's burn was reduced to little more than a sting. He turned back to the women who had become his mother with a look of gratitude. Then he gave his all his he trashed at the Kython in front of him. He would not fall to a couple of bugs.

Dan whispered in Rob's ear suddenly, "Be careful of your companion Kalar, his actions seem a bit off." Rob was in the middle of casting a spell on the avatar of the seventh level of hell. He then attempted a lie. The avatar's glare turned into a scowl. It flew at him was screeching words. "You think yourself more clever then the lord of lies?" it said as it flew in Rob's direction. It reached him in a matter of moments and brandished it's devilish green blade. It swung in. Rob felt like he couldn't move, like the whole thing was happening in slow moment. The sword swung in towards Rob's neck. At the last moment though, it stopped short. It seemed to magically alter it's course back, away from Rob enough to reach just in front of Rob's neck, missing him by inches. Rob was relieved to be unharmed at first, until his father's head appeared in front of him. His body appeared a moment later as his head fell to the ground. His body stood for a moment, as if in disbelief before slumping to the ground. Dan was dead.

The earth elemental and fire elemental both failed to lay a hand on the avatar as it zipped around. Lynda was equally unsuccessful with her arrows. The werewolves, Voulton, and Galse all had their plans shattered by the barrier of fangs. They quickly thought up a new plan with some of the werewolves, along with Voulton making their way around whirling fangs and Galse, Rachelle and the others preparing themselves but currently staying put to cover all sides of the battlefield. But really, Voulton had saw Lynda and went charged over to say hello. However after witnessing Dan's beheading it seemed clear, even to Voulton, who the main target was. Stumpy was uneasy around the newly appeared werewolves, causing a hindrance to their movement.

Harvey bled on the ground, motionless. Though, he was no completely visible.

Arden took 9 fire damage.

Lynda was halfway through preparing to talk to Voulton when she saw Dan's head fall. Whatever she was going to say, the rest of it turned in to a scream.

Taking out her keen rapier, she coats it with the blessed oil she bought before the battle. She also downs her potions of good hope and protection from evil.

After her preparations, she'll brand her weapon and fly forward, intent on striking down the avatar.

---------------

Ardan sighs.

"It wasn't meant to be." He says. "But if I'm going to die again, I might as well put this corpse to use."

Ardan dashes through the flames, with the intent of shielding the mouse and frog with his body.

Before shock could turn to grief, Rob quickly and silently lies to himself;

"That doesn't upset me!"

There will be emotional hell to pay later, but at least that should keep the tears out of his eyes until the glibness wears off.

Since the Avatar's sword is right there in front of him, Rob clacks it with his Wood Block of Transmute Metal to Wood and then sprints away shouting for Stumpy.

Tammytharn casts Cure Light Wounds, Mass at the Alpha werewolf, letting the rest of the spell spill into other allies. She circles around the edge of the whirling teeth, trying to get closer to the currently-distracted Avatar.

"WHERE ARE YOU ROB?" says Stumpy, frightened and confused. He flies up close to the ceiling, to try and get away from the crowd and confusion below

Galse can't make heads or tails of this battlefield. He continues surveying the field while taking a defensive stance. The billowing smoke from the north is worrisome and the crystals are mysterious. The chaotic swirling of spells is less mysterious: Kalar never did seem to give a slime who got caught in the middle of his slime.

"Let's watch the friendly fire, okay?! Save it for the bugs!" the squinty man shouts, shaking his head at the mess.

Thanks to Dan's decapitation, Voulton doesn't need Galse's observations. Bugs don't wield swords... it's been too long since he's had the chance to do this. With a wild howl he leaps forward and attempts to break the sword that cut off Dan's head.

The assassins antics are no longer finding an audience. His ancestors have turned their worried attention outwards, their long-dead eyes seeing through the darkness that surrounds Harvey, tracking threats that he cannot see. "What's so interesting out there?! The show's back here! Look, I just killed a bird and I didn't eat the beak or the claws or the eyes! Another disgrace to add to the record books! Aren't any of you going to write this down?!"

Nobody turns to look. Bilchik doesn't know what it is, but something has changed. His life may be in grave danger.

Harvey's body has quit smoking, so at least that's something. He continues to lie there motionless, and now apparently visible.

Kalar surveys the battlefield. Things are not going too well. He needs to get rid of the kythons so that everyone can focus on the avatar. He goes over his options. He would rather not burn his magic away right now, but those kythons need to be dealt with sooner rather than later. His mind made up, he moves farther back to evade any potential reprisals from the kythons or the avatar. He then lifts his hand, making a slapping motion in the air towards the nearest hostile kython resulting in a massive boom as a blast of sonic energy collapses in on the kython..

Ability Used: Clap of Thunder, maximized 7d6 sonic damage. No save against damage. Fort save 25 or be deafened for 1 round.

Sensing that it was pointless to actively attack at this point with the chaos currently unfolding, Rachelle moves back slightly from the fray. As she does this, she pulls out and drinks a potion of Enlarge Person. Hopefully this will allow her to strike back when the Avatar comes around to her.

There is no chance of this action backfiring.

Preparations to slay an avatar were being made. Rachelle grew, Lynda drank potions, and Tammytharn healed the Alpha. Having finished preparing, Azedarac flew at the avatar with his lances of blackness. They tore into the Avatar, leaving huge gashes in it's silvery hide. The fire elemental missed it's attack, bu the earth elemental connected with a huge clubbing attacking.

Kalar unleashed a thunderous attack at an already injured kython. It died. The Alpha meleed with the two remaining kython. He took some good hits and return them in kind.

The flying bug flew torwards Kalar. Kalar felt a painful spell wash over him. Back in the other room where the flying bug had come from, Arden hoped on the Frog and mouse, protecting them from the fire. He was able to avoid any more burns for the moment. The coffin began to heat up. The frog began to panic.

Rob unleashed an odd weapon. A wave of nature shot out from Rob. The Avatar in front of him was the most affected. His skin crackled and snapped. His flail turned to wood. His green steel sword seemed unaffected. The large door, which the dragon and stone giant had gone through earlier turned to wood. Several of Lynda's items turned to wood as well, including her rapier and some of her arrow heads. Finally, Voulton's axe became a hard golden colored wood. His armor, shield, and even back up axe all seemed to have changed to wood too. As Voulton chopped in at the avatar's green sword, he found that his weapon was instead the one to be chipped. The axe he had used for years had all but been rendered almost useless as a tool for sundering weapons. The werewolves circled in to help with the avatar, with one of them scoring a small hit. The avatar turned it's attention, not towards Rob, but towards Azedarac, soaking him in acid and slashing him with his green sword. Azedarac was instantly put in bad shape from the blows. The avatar's flail struck Azedarac but seemed mostly useless against Azedarac's magical defenses, until Azedarac's body seized up.

Realizing that his transmutation has failed against the Avatar's sword, and ruined Voulton's axe, Rob decides to run away.

He runs north.

When he spots Harvey's bleeding form, he casts Cure Moderate Wounds on him. Hopefully this can't go awry.

With a grim look of determination on her face, and a whispered prayer on her lips, Tammytharn advances directly at the Avatar. If she can reach him she will cast Harm upon him.

Stumpy still can't see Rob, since Rob is still invisible, but he does spot the now-gigantic form of Rachelle, and decides to fly over and hide behind her

"God damnit..." Galse mutters, noticing Voulton's predicament. "Somethin' just happened to Voulton's weapons and armor, boss. Doesn't look good." he reports to the giant lizard lady beside him. "I don't get it... where's the coffin? Where's the dead King and the mirror and the curse and all that crap?"

Harvey's body abides. "Hey! Pay attention to me you old bastards! I know I'm not dead yet. Tell me what's going on!" Not that they ever have. Not that they ever would! But hope springs eternal in the darkest inner sanctum of every assassin. An ancestor facing south smacks his face in disbelief. Another looks on with a bemused sense of hope. Both of them realize what they're doing and revert to their ghostly poker faces.

Voulton is in a nightmare world. The enemy surrounds him. The enemy envelops him. The enemy is in his own hand, replacing one of his most treasured possessions! A million trees will pay for this outrage, if the lumberjack lives to see the outside world. He cries to the heavens "Gods above! Lend me an axe!" and brings forth the husk of his war-battered tree-killer in a calculated offensive.

He aims his first swing for the now wooden flail of the avatar, using his knowledge of woodworking to try to hit a particularly brittle point and keeps smashing at it till one or both of the weapons are broken. "If mine breaks first..." the half-giant starts to think to himself. "No. Too terrible to think about. Just have to do it when it happens..."

If Voulton has any attacks left over, and if his axe survives, he'll try to land some blows on the crackled skin of the avatar. Maybe it's still sharp enough..

Rachelle, still somewhat blocked by the wall of fangs, begins to head around towards the Avatar. She stops to pick up the crystal that lay on the way around, aiming to hurl it at the demonic figure as soon as she can get a good aim on it.

There is absolutely no way this course of action could possibly end badly.

Lynda pouts, seeing some of the scratches in her silver rapier reveal that the integrity of her weapon has been compromised. Seemingly, all her metal weapons now have become wooden.

"Damn it all..." Lynda thinks. "I do have one pretty little trick."

"Lets see if I can do this correctly..."

She takes out her holy symbol, and holds it to her chest in an act of small prayer. She takes out her bow, and in splendid fashion, makes aims to fire at every foe she can, including the avatar.

Kalar turns his attention from the bug for now, and points his holy symbol at the avatar. He grabs a flask from his pack and applies it to his holy symbol, increasing the spell's potency. He then lets loose a blast of power that screams white light towards the avatar, slamming into it.

Spell Used: Moon Bolt (Spell Compendium) with Liquid Pain (BoVD) apples (+2 CL)

Strikes unerringly

Target takes maximized 5d4 Strength damage, Fort 25 half.

The whirling of the blade and fang barriers kept the fire in the marble room from spreading out into the cave. Arden clenched tightly around the two creatures he was trying to protect as the fire burned his legs. The coffin was heating up but for now, the mouse and frog seemed safe.

The alpha werewolf took another big hit and howled as one of the kython latched onto to him, trapping him in a nasty grapple. It held the werewolf tight as the other injured kython stabbed at the alpha with it's poison covered skewers.

Stumpy followed close behind as Rachelle picked up one of the large mysterious crystals with plans to throw the thing at the enemy. Rob, not wanting any part of this melee, retreated to the north. There, he healed Harvey at the very last second. Harvey's otherworldly visions end abruptly as reality comes crashing back in. His skin is scorched and his limbs are numb, but he's alive.

The other werewolves, along with the elementals, tore at the avatar of the seventh level of hell. It evaded a good deal of attacks, but it's skin was far less fluid and so were it's movements. It's wooden skin chipps and splintered off as claws scratched and rocks smashed. The fire elemental scorched it's wooden flesh horribly. Voulton shattered the avatar's flail followed through, inflicting a large wound on the wooden skinned monster. Dashing past the fiery elemental, Tammytharn reaches into the melee to deliver a harm spell on the avatar.
A bright ray of moonlight struck the avatar then, thanks to Kalar. The avatar looked weak. Not just because of the effects of the spell, but the damage clearly seemed to be taking it's toll as parts of the avatar fell to the ground.

In response, the avatar splashed those around it with acid. This scolded one of the werewolves so badly, it fell motionless to the ground. It also snuffed out the fire elemental. Then the avatar escaped to a corner, avoiding many more attacks. It took to the sky, flying up close to the ceiling while screeching terribly. It caught an arrow in it's side as Lynda unleash a storm of arrows on all the enemies around her. The kythons fighting the alpha werewolf both took arrows too as did the small red bug, which was busy summoning up another of it's kind to the battle field.

Then, the door to the right burst open. Bruised and bloody, the stone giant floated into the room. Only sky could be seen through the open door, the silver dragon was no where to be found.

Voulton & Tammytharn take 36 acid damage

"Spectacular!" Lynda claps, having seen her storm unleashed. "How about another party trick?"

Lynda grips her holy symbol briefly, then puts two fingers to one of her temples. Reaching up, she places another finger upon her head. A pair of horns erupt from her head, as does a skull plate. Her skin seems to thicken as well.

Once the spell takes full effect, she will fly towards the avatar with the intent on goring him with her horns.
