Voulton cuts his approach to the village short with a startled yelp and returns to the cart with the others to strategize.

Kalar thought about what he knew about bloodhulks as he atempted to rebuke them. They are, a kind of mindless undead. It can withstand tremendous physical punishment. A bloodhulk is created through a foul ritual that saturates a creature’s flesh with the blood of sacrificed victims. A bloodhulk is full to bursting with blood. Whenever it takes damage from edged weapons, its flesh ruptures.

Kalar gained control of two of the bloodhulks, but the other three continued to approach. The rest of the party readied themselves for battle.

Rob begins singing Inspire Courage

"Be strong my friends, and look ahead,
Voulton swing your axe's head,
Together slay we these undead,
Soon the soil will flow with red!"

Next he will ride-by attack one of the Blood Hulks, using his embarrassingly musical rapier.

Kalar's holy symbol turned silver then. As it did a silvery sheen swept over him. It quickly passed but for a moment every part of Kalar, his face his clothes his gear, were all silvery. Afterward, his holy symbol remained silvery.
Kalar had control of all five of the bloodhulks. He could feel his powers of undead control being pulled far past their limits. His control felt strong and solid but it drains him more than controlling any undead had before.

Kalar heard a faint call to him coming from the vials of silvery fluid he had collected from the skeleton as well as from the vial in Voulton's possession. He felt he must anoint himself in these fluids soon or something terrible might happen.

Rachelle, having been ready to attack the bloodhulks, lowered her halberd, and slowly backed away after the last few were controlled. What exactly was going on here?

...did them being controlled still prevent her from attacking them? The moment any of them seem to break free of Kalar's control, she would be ready to charge back in again.

"Lads, something's wrong with my magic again. I suggest you all clear out of here as quickly as possible. I've just received a vision that I will need to use the silvery vials. I have no idea what will happen, so get clear and don't look back. If all goes well, I will rejoin you shortly. Now get going!"

He turns to Hrulgin and says, "Hrulgin, keep them safe from me. And keep me safe from myself."

As soon as the others have some distance, Kalar will anoint himself with one of the vials.

Voulton doesn't like the sound of that. "We have no idea what they do. The last silvery potion you drank killed you. Still, I get the feeling there's no time or use arguing with you. Good luck and thanks." Voulton gathers his stuff and *slowly* backs away from the wagon keeping his eyes on the situation. He's got a really, really bad feeling about this.

Rob stabbed at the hulking undead beast. Blood gushed out of the wound and a Glockenspiel appeared in Rob's lap. Rob was glad it wasn't the large kind he had seen the sword summon before. He knew this wasn't what the sword was meant to do, but every so often *poof* a musical instrument would appear mid-battle. It was around this time he noticed the bloodhulks weren't attacked back and had stopped advancing. Kalar was asking everyone to leave and it looked like Voulton was doing so. The others seemed like they were going too. It seemed like the silvery vial Kalar had might be dangerous.

Rob sheepishly drops the glockenspiel on the ground, and turns Stumpy around to retreat in the same direction as the others.

Kalar seems to need some alone-time

Kalar watched as the others left him. They were more than a mile down the road before he took out the silvery vial. He anointed himself on his arms and chest. He could feel divine energy flowing through him. He lost control of himself then. He feverishly poured the other vials over his head. Kalar watched as his clothes his gear and every inch of his skin became silver. He could feel his skin burn beneath the silver. At the same time he began to feel through the silver. It's divine flowing became like a new skin to him. Then Kalar passed out.
Kalar found himself once again in front of Dispater. "Sup Kalar. So you've gone and fully given in to that stuff now? Well look at that. So what should we do now?"
Kalar had a long conversation with his deity then, as his bloodhulk guardians watched over him.

The others continued down the road for hours until Lynda and Rachelle spotted some bears on the road in the distance. The bears looked much larger than normal and seemed to be heading their way. However, the bears were still very far away so the group had plenty of time to figure out what to do.

"Maybe we should make a bunch of noise and try to scare them away? Supposedly they're more afraid of us than we are of them."

Rob pulls a small accordian out of his bag of holding. He pumps it furiously and sings loudly

"Bears, bears, go away,
We don't have time for thee,
Bears, bears, won't you stray?
Please go and climb a tree!

"Maybe bears, you didn't hear,
We are the people you should fear,
Guys with swords? We killed a few!
They were a bigger threat than you!
So back away, don't come near,
Your bear-momma's will shed a tear!"

Rob isn't quite happy with the rhyme on that last line, so he just makes a bigger racket with the accordion to cover it up.

"I could fly over them with the sword and scout them out." Lynda says.

"This girl can fly, so don't you dare,
to try to be a naughty bear,
If you should dare to swipe your paws,
If you should dare to snap your jaws,
She'll split you in two without a care!"
