Rachelle begins to walk back to the battle site. That was a grisly way for the colossus to go, although she couldn't think of a better way for the thing to have gone down.

She also begins to reflect on the feeling that she hasn't really been contributing that much to the party's fighting capabilities recently. A hint of an idea appears to her, but for now she doesn't bother dwelling on it.

People, mostly guards, exit the city and pour out on to the battle field. They swarm the colossus, poking and proding it. Voulton is a bit annoyed that these people are making searching the battlefield difficult. Then one of the guards brought him a large golden talisman. "I found this in one of the beasts wounds. I think you guys should have it," she said. The talisman was very big. It took two hands to hold and the gold it was made out of made it very heavy.
The people gathered around the party members, praising them for their deed. Gaspard himself approached Lynda and Rob, a large sack that looked heavy in one hand and a mirror in the other. "I didn't think you would want to wait. Here's your reward; 10,000 gold pieces and the mirror I promised. You earned it!" Rob and Lynda lifted their reward in triumphant. The people cheered.
Kalar lifted the sword. He felt it's will try to over take him. He almost laughed when he felt how easy it was for him to overcome it. He remembered it used to talk but could sense no talking ability. He was instantly made aware of it's ability to identify at will, detect traps, location objects, and attack at +3 power. He wasn't sure if he preferred this telepathic link over a talking sword, but it's what he had now. What had been done to this sword that it would change like this?
Hrulgin approached Kalar then and presented him three flasks full of the silvery liquid.
The people of the city carried the party on their arms and marched them through town. The approached the stage that the party had first met Gaspard on. The old leaders of the city were awarding Gaspard a crown, naming him the new leader of the city. Then they proclaimed it hero day. The day would be full of feasting and merriment.

During the celebration, Rob tries to catch Gaspard's attention.

"Gaspard, my friend, now that you are ruler of Vyones, can you use your influence to try and get the ban on the practice of magic lifted? I know it is the law of the land, but today magic threatened us, and it was magic that saved us as well. I don't think that outlaws like Nathaire should be the only ones who get to practice magic openly."

"A lot of people saw what we did out there today, so maybe public opinion will agree with me."

Before she gets completely sloshed during the celebration, Rachelle quickly searches for the city's library, or whatever the largest collection of books in the city would be. Now that there isn't anything they need to be rushing around for, it would be a good idea to find a copy of - or at least a book similar to - the history book she took from those reclusive wizards and check to see if anything significant had changed.

...on second thought, Rachelle realizes she could probably do the cross-checking tomorrow. She'll just look around for the book, and then enjoy her perfectly valid excuse to eat and drink excessively.

"Rob, you know Azedarc, Archbishop of Ximes, is the only one with that power. The Inquisition has never cared about who magic has helped in the past and they may in fact be on their way here after all that has happened." Gaspard says this in a hushed tone as he looks around the crowd and then motions towards a man in all white. The man isn't celebrating, but has not taken his eyes off of Lynda for a second.

Rob understands Gaspard's body language, and also lowers his own voice.

"So maybe I am talking about revolution. I wasn't suggesting that I think Azedarc would change the laws just because you asked, but why should we, proud people of Vyones, bow down to the self-destructive whims of the Archbishop of Ximes?"

"How much do you think he dares to assert his authority here? Are you going to let him push us around just like Nathaire was trying to?"

"Rob, this isn't the place. However, let me make one thing clear, Azedarc is more powerful they you think," says Gaspard.

Rob frowns and sighs. "You are more fun to talk to when you are drunk, my friend."

"Very well, I'll save this conversation for later, until then, just think about this: If he is so powerful, what did the Archbishop of Ximes do to help us when the colossus threatened us?"

Rob goes off to find Stumpy, from whom he was separated from when the celebrating people lifted them and carried them back to the city.

Lynda loses herself in the celebrations. She won't say it, but she's overjoyed that it was her action that saved the city of Yvones. However, she remains as modest as faux royalty can, and plays up the efforts of her party members. Especially the part when Voulton cleaved the colossus weapon in half. Now that was impressive.

During the celebrations, Lynda hears Rob converse with Gaspard, and takes notice to the man in white. She hadn't really thought he was out of place, until she realizes hes fixated on her. After hearing what Gaspard had to say, she feels slightly unsettled. Lynda decides to be a little daring, and investigate. She approaches the man in white.

"Hello there." She says. "So how are you enjoying the festivities?"

Voulton thanks the guards for bringing the talisman to him and continues searching the battlefield, hard as it might be. "Who would entrust a bunch of undead to do what they'd been told and just set them free, without any living leadership? The beast didn't look like it was making decisions. The skeleton was reporting events to someone else."

Uggh, where'd everyone else get to? Voulton decides to pack the talisman in his sack for easier carrying and take it to Kalar or Gaspard or someone who might know what the hell it is. There's something more going on here, but Voulton has no idea what. .. and while he's asking questions, he'll get 'em to take a look at his werewolf bracers. Might as well know what they are since he's already wearing 'em.

Excellent. Kalar puts the vials into his pack for safekeeping. The sword, he keeps. He might be able to get someone in the city to fashion a baldric and scabbard for him.

He sees Voulton searching the battlefield and decides to do the same. Before he does so though, he sends Bill, the skeletons, and Hrulgin to go hide in the woods. Wouldn't do to have the celebration interrupted by an impromptu undead hunt, especially when the undead in question are his.

Seeing Kalar join the search, Voulton shows him the talisman. "What do you suppose it is? The guards found it in one of the beasts wounds... How did it get there? Who was leading this attack? So many strange goings on."

"I also need to get someone to check out these bracers. I found 'em on the werewolf way back when, and only now tried putting them on. Was probably a stupid thing to do but... I didn't feel like we were going to get out of this alive, you know?"

"Ah, I see. Excellent timing then. I have finally managed to retrieve my sword, the one you heard about that cost me 25,000 gold pieces. And one of the perks that it grants me is this."

Kalar uses the power of the sword to identify both the talisman and the bracers.

Stumpy sidles up cautiously to Voulton.

"I LOST MY ROB" says the horse, in a worried tone.

Voulton is deeply concerned.

"Kalar," he announces trying to stay calm "I believe the bracers allow me to understand the speech of horses." before spending a moment to let it sink in...

..and then he realizes he's being rude, good lord! He gives the horse his rapt attention. "There's some kind of commotion going on in the city and Rob seems like the kind of guy who'd want to be where the action is. We can go find him as soon as we're done looking at this talisman. Have you ever seen anything like it?"
