"The thing that's been on my mind is my ethereal abilities." Lynda says. "I understand it's magical in nature, but...where did it come from? The amulet did not cause this. I wonder its something that I'm wearing that is causing this ethereal nature."

"Get naked." Voulton suggests out of nowhere... and then realizes that sounds kinda bad. "Take off all your stuff and then put it back on one piece at a time. When you put on something that makes you all ghosty, take it off!"

He's not very happy to find out that a werewolf escaped, even if Lynda's right and it's just following us for now. Who knows if he's planning an ambush? Or a jailbreak? Voulton is definitely going to be more careful about things that go bump in the night. How long until Tammytharn's a member of the Fur Coat of the Month club? Probably a mistake to have ever let 'em out of that village. At least the potion.. whatever it is! will be safe from the werewolf agenda.

"I still think we should all go to the city and orchestrate our scouting with the city defense, but Hrulgin may have seen something a living person wouldn't have. Be safe, Kalar. You don't need me to tell you, but you don't want to get in over your head out there."

"Indeed. Have Tammy contact me in an hour to see how things are going. If I need to signal you, I'll cast a light spell on the largest thing I can, and take it up into the air with Bill, so keep an eye skywards just in case."

With that, Kalar mounts Bill, and heads off to rendezvous with Hrulgin, with skeletons in tow. He also puts on Lynda's ring, intent on testing it as soon as he's met up with Hrulgin.

It's starting to dawn on Voulton that he's stuck with this sword. Probably a good idea to practice a little with it first, before getting into trouble. He isn't totally unprepared for this, the books in the library were quite informative. He attempts to detect unseen foes or evil intent.

Assuming he's unsuccesful, either because the sword's a dud or more likely, that there are no unseen foes or evil intent around, he'll try one of the more obvious powers...

Putting his axe up for the time being, he points the sword at a nearby tree and yells "BOOM! HOLY RAY!"

If that too is unsuccesful, he'll more thoroughly examine the sword: Does it seem as the book described? Does it match the picture? Are there any obvious contradictions?

Lynda takes off her amulet, then proceeds to take off all of her jewelry and accessories.

Tammytharn holds up her bedroll like a curtain so Lynda has at least a little privacy.

Once well out of sight of the others, Kalar decides to test Lynda's ring. He ensures it's on his finger, and then runs up a tree. Once he reaches around 10 feet up, he'll jump off the tree, hoping that the ring will activate and allow him to float gently down.

AT LAST RUIN IS AT HAND! Voulton Jr., son of the great Manticore killing giant Voulton Sr., snatches the now discarded amulet, dons it quickly, and smashes Tammytharn's potion over Lynda's head. Only the werechildren knew, and to them none would listen!

There is no place in the new world for pacifists! He swings his grizzly axe at Tammy's head, guided by his TRUE DIVINE PURPOSE!

Turning now to his new disciples, the children, the face of the brave new world, he speaks the words that he'd scrawled on every surface of the inside of the cart.

"HAIL VECNA!"

Kalar finds, as he floats to the ground, that it is indeed a featherfall ring. Voulton does detect an evil presence with the sword. He feels it coming from the cart. Meaning one or more of the children are evil. His attempt at shooting holy rays was less successful. Nothing came out at all. He does notice that the sword has runes along the blade, as described. Except for the lack of holy rays, this seems to be the right sword.

Lynda takes her items off one at a time. When she's almost completely naked she notices that none of it is causing her ethereal nature. She puts it all back on and thinks about what she's learned.

Tammytharn then sends Helena a message. The answer she gets is troubling. Alexander has been dead for hundreds of years and she doesn't know how it happened back then.

Kalar mounts Bill, and ties himself in with the ropes he attached to the saddle. He command Bill to fly upwards, allowing him to get a better look at the surrounding lands. He also orders his skeletons to follow him from the ground.

Rachelle, finally seeing Voulton's general non-interest in using the sword for an extended period of time, offers to take it from him.

She also finally notices Tammytharm covering Lynda with the bedroll. What was going on there, exactly? Was there any reason she had to get naked - even temporarily - right now?

"The sword tells me something evil is lurking in the children's cart! It doesn't specify whether it's one of them or some unseen menace!"

He gives the sword to Rachelle, reminding her what the book had said about it:

"The sword was created to destroy undead. The book said that it could destroy ANYTHING undead with a single strike! It sounded like nonsense to me at the time, but apparently the sword can detect hidden foes, alert you to evil intentions, allow you to fly and even shoot some kind of holy energy at things... I haven't gotten those parts to work yet."

He can barely hide his enthusiasm. "Go on. Try it out!"

Rachelle, taking the sword, looks around, seeming somewhat concerned. "What direction did all of Kalar's skeletons go?" she asks.

Hopefully he won't mind one of them acting as a test subject, given his attitude towards... resources.

Rachelle quickly catches up with Kalar as he flies around clumsily. She yells to him and soon is able to share her plan.

Kalar lands and listens to Rachelle's plan.

"Very well, go ahead and try."

He orders one of his skeletons to walk up to Rachelle and stand still.

"I can spare this skeleton. It's a good use of resources, the more we know about that sword the better. And it's far more advantageous for us to know whether or not it works before heading off into battle."
