Kalar takes the sword and examines it. He doesn't draw it yet, taking Charles' warning to heart. Instead, he gives it to one of his skeleton followers to carry. He also goes about arming them with the various gear he'd picked up previously.

He turns to the ghouls and asks, "My new friends, I am sure you would fight better without weapons and armor, but if you feel the need to get any, just tell me and I'll be sure to look out for any. Also, might I have your names? I can't just keep referring to you as ghoul this and ghoul that."

Kalar suddenly remembers something... If Charles has forgotten everything, and if the statues are back...

"Charles!" Kalar says as he pounds on the door. "You buried your sister, but I fear she may still be alive! The last time we were here, she clawed her way out from where she was buried and then attacked you! But everything here has returned to how it was before, so she might be there again. We have to get your sister out before anything happens!"

Skeleton #1 gets armed with the intelligent sword and the chain shirt +1.

Skeleton #2 gets the thundering warhammer.

Skeleton #3 gets Kalar's old war pick.

Skeletons #4 & 5 each get a dagger +1

Skeleton #6 get nothing, as Kalar is out of gear to give.

Tammytharn converts a level 1 spell and heals Lynda a little. She remains silent, an annoyed expression on her face. She can't decide what is worse. The way Lynda played along with the sick decapitation game, or the fact that it worked so perfectly.

Lynda receives no healing from the spell.

Charles gives no answer form the other side of the door. Then Kalar hears a sound, a very familiar sound of boards breaking. Madeline soon came running down the hall, ignoring the skeletons, ghouls, and Kalar. She threw open the unlocked door and pounced upon Charles.

Visions of days before flooded Kalar's head. This is how it had started, Madeline would be subdued and then Charles would insist on taking her to her room and Simon would be there. Simon, Kalar wasn't sure he wanted to meet him again. Kalar watched as Charles was straggled.

Tammytharn swallows a curse. She is annoyed at herself for forgetting about Lynda's necklace and wasting a spell.

Then she thinks of something. She goes over to the fallen head of the green knight.

"Thank you for the key." She says. "But you said you would help us in ANY way. Does that extend to accompanying us and helping defend us against threats"?"

She waits to see if he will magically reply, or if he is just dead.

"Ghouls! Subdue her! Paralyze her if you can, but keep her alive!"

Kalar's ghouls swarm in and grapple Madeline. Charles regains himself and dusts off. He looks over Madeline with a familiar surprise. "You were dead..." He says as he rambles to himself. Kalar had seen it all before so it came to no surprise to him when Charles suggested they take Madeline to her room. He opened the door to the cloak room and gestured for Kalar to follow.

Tammytharn was surprised when the giant's head reacted, but only slightly as that was exactly what she was expecting. "You're greedy for someone that didn't even do the fighting," said the giant. Then the giant's body stood up and picked up his head. "Good job in besting me elf girl. The key is your prize. With it and the other 3 keys your group already possesses, you all should be able to leave this castle now."

"Well...we now have all the required keys." Lynda says. "Thank you, Green Knight...and may I say, you certainly made me work for that key."

She turns to Tammytharn and Rachelle. "I'm going to seek out Kalar, and inform him that we can move on."

With that, she tries to make her way back to the chapel to seek out Kalar.

"Charles, wait!"

Kalar quickly turns to Hrulgin, "Find the others, tell them about all this. If Charles brings his brother or whoever that other Clover was, things might get troublesome."

Kalar hurries after Charles to stop him. "Charles, wait, you have to listen to me. You believe me that this has happened before, right? The last time we were here, this happened as well. But when you went to see your brother, he attacked us despite your protests. I share your concern for your sister, but I suggest we see to her in your room instead. One of my comrades is a powerful healer, and she will know what to do and be able to see that your sister receives the best of medical attention. You have my word on that, but please, do not go to your kin just yet."

Charles looks at the werewolf suspiciously, "I don't know what your game is but to think that I'd trust you over my own brother is crazy." Charles casts a spell at his sister. She falls asleep. "Thank you for subduing my sister, but I can take it from here, please leave."

Hrulgin meets Lynda just outside of the lab. He explains the situation in his ghoul way and they both head towards the chapel.

Kalar shakes his head. This is insane. Still, he's already fulfilled his part of the bargain, and there is nothing left holding him here. He has the sword that he wanted, and he's kept his word. There is no need to stay any longer. Besides, should he leave, then perhaps an amicable solution might be had amongst the siblings.

That's unlikely though...

Mind made up, Kalar calls on the rest of his army and leaves back towards the lab, taking great care to stay away from any of the statues. He pauses at the entrance to the lab though, considering something. He commands one of his ghouls to move to a statue and touch it.

If the statues bestow some negative effect, then at least it will be confirmed that they are active. If it bestows a positive effect, then all the better. If nothing happens, then at least he hasn't lost a minion. Win-win-win situation as far as Kalar is concerned.

Assuming he still has them, Galse is going to entertain himself by jangling the keys in front of his face. Who knows, maybe he'll notice something

Lynda and Hrulgin climb into the chapel to find Kalar commanding a skeleton to touch a statue. Lynda looks at the renewed statues and wonders if they will work for her now, knowing full well that they would not.

As the skeleton fails to activate the statue, even with rough jabs, a cry can be heard coming from Charles' direction. It sounds like Charles is being attacked.

Thistlewhistle, deep in the land of dreams, has stopped riding and now sits under a large tree full of magic and rainbows. Gontort sits beside him and they both watch as the many planets that can be seen, pass across the sky. Their mounts sit nearby seeming to also be watching the sky. Thistlewhistle has almost completely forgotten about his task of destroying the model castle. The tiny castle sits next to thistlewhistle seeming to also be watching the sky.

So all her favorite Clover's were back with no recollection of the previous events? Just lovely.

Hearing Charles cry out, Lynda rolls her eyes.

"If it's because his damn sister is strangling him yet again, I don't even think I'll bother to save him this time." Lynda says. "I'll go check, but I'll try to make myself...less pronounced."

Lynda heads towards the cries. She'll peer in to the doors to see what's happening, as to not make herself noticed if Simon is present.

Well, that's one mystery solved. Kalar figures that the statues must only react to the living, much like the tiles from the tile room.

He turns to Lynda and says, "Take two skeletons with you, just to be safe."

Kalar orders skeletons 5 and 6 to follow Lynda and obey her until they return to him. In the meantime, he does some thinking.

The sword he got from Charles was cursed, and it would try to take him over if he drew it. While he was confident in his ability to resist, it would still be an unnecessary risk to draw it himself. Still, he was certain he heard the sword speak when Charles drew it previously. That gives him an idea.

He orders skeleton 1 to draw the sword and hold it up.

"Greetings sword, I wish to make a deal."

The two skeletons go off with Lynda. Lynda peeks into Charles' room to she exactly what she thought she would. Charles was being horribly strangled by his sister in the cloak room. But past that, Lynda could see the room to Simon's shrine was open.

As Kalar's skeleton drew the sword, a high pitch sound sang out from the sword. Unlike when Charles drew it in the past, this time the sword seemed to be oozing a magical aura over the skeleton. "Hello! So, I'm a skeleton now? I guess this could be worse," said the sword. Then the skeleton walked away, in the direction of the large door leading tot he indoor forest.
