Guuuuuuuysssss!!!
Did you see the radical new redstone gadgets in the new snapshots?! Jeeze, they seem epic! Blocks of Redstone that give charge and can be pushed by pistons, Daylight Detectors, Hoppers, Redstone Comparators, Trap Chests, Weighted Pressure Plates, and a new Nether Ore, Nether Quartz! This next update is gonna be good!

time for redstone tricks with meowskivich, with extra lack of capitalization!
Did you know you can send redstone currents upwards with the use of a redstone torch? simply do as I do in this video:
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
And by do, I mean set up something in similar regards.

There is currently a way to do vertical current. it isn't as nice as vertical wire would be, but it is still much better than stair-blocksMaster K wrote:Vertical wiring would be nice so we don't have to place awkward block stairs every time we want redstone to go upwards. :/
stack up blocks in this pattern:
Cobblestone, Redstone Torch, Cobblestone, Redstone Torch....
This carries a signal upward, and is only one block thick. If you want to see one of these in-game, take the teleporter to The Gray. From the house the houses the teleporter, look north-east and you will see a fireworks tower set apart from the rest of the village. The vertical stack of Cobblestone and Redstone Torches is exposed on the back for easy examination.
EDIT: Oops! Haha! Meowskivich beat me to the punch! And that video illustrates it much more clearly than my firework tower does

That could be's fun. I'll try to get on the server on Saturday and Sunday between, oh, 2-10 PM EST. [s]I don't know where anyone lives except JabberTroll SwampCat, so... what time zones are we dealing with here?[/s]

Okay, so. Georgia's EST is mine, that's UTC-5. Washington is PST, which is UTC-8. So my hypothetical 5 PM is TheCube's 2 PM. (And SwampTroll's 10 PM for England)
Additionally, I just got a mic headset for christmas and am eager to try it out. Want to give voice chat a go?
I could also get Fred from Florida on (already whitelisted), I'll see if he's interested in helping build something.

It is going to be pretty tough to get us all online at the same time, but lets just try to do the best we can, both this weekend and next.
I propose the following build plan:
=Before this Friday=
I will set up a new teleporter to a distant pristine land
=Weekend of Jan 11 12 13=
* Set up farms
* Set up mines
* mark out the foundation of the castle, but don't start it yet
* Build as much village as we can
* Wherever the boundaries of the village are on Sunday night, that is where the wall will go up.
=Weekend of Jan 18 19 20=
* Build the walls around the city
* Build the castle
* Now that the walls are in place, new houses must be be packed in between and on-top of existing ones, making the city more dense
Does that all sound like a good plan?
