Greatest Ancient Civilization

Just interested to learn about some of the Greatest Civilizations.
Lets define greatest as: Influence over other nations(Not just conqured ones), Land, Philisophy, Scientific advances, Military, and Leaders. Also what stage where they at compared to the rest of the world at that time?

General Rules, Like watch your language, you get it.

NOTE: Preferably when they were as good as they ever got.

Greece. Democracy originated from Greece. Philisophy as well. They housed the noble spartans who fought to the death to give the other men time to get away, to fight another day; in the Battle of Thermopylae. Greece greatly influenced the great Romans. The Greeks influenced the Western World more than any other civilization in my opinion. Who could forget Alexander The Great, he conqured practicaly the known world. Compared to other civilizations at that time Greece was highly advanced in science and they were very capable of defending their land as well as gaining more land. The Romans only conqured them due to Alexanders death, when Greece was split into three seperate countries.

Let the debate begin.

This poor thread needs some attention.

Mine is the Mushroom Kingdom: The first and only civilization to establish it's foundation on drugs. I don't know much about their government or politics, except for that they seem to be ruled by a hierarchy of sorts. Everybody's there is always high. ( Hence they're revoltingly happy attitudes. ) The princess is so high, she even has clouds painted on the walls of her castle. Obviously representin' the fabled "Cloud nine" status. Their staple of foods is mushrooms, but they're known to eat various flowers as well. I'm not sure if they eat any Goombas or Koopas.

Very Intriquing...I noticed you mentioned nothing about their very formidable 1-man milita? Also what rivals did they have? Was anyother Civilization competing for drugs? Lastly, was their main foodsource ever threatend?

Mario is a mercenary from Brooklyn, the Mushroom Kingdom has no standing army. Their rivals are the racially abused turtle people of the west.

Ah, I assume that there are other great civilizations though?
Please someone post another or add to/correct about an already mention civilization.
