On a lesser note, I don't see anything remotely mischevious, annoying, or particularly villainous about your character. Is that intentional? Is she one of those subtle villains that's supposed to slip under the players' / heroes' radar?
Nope. You'll know she's a villain. However, she's more a nuisance than a true villain. Take Effie Trinkets personality and mix it with Fawful's annoyance abilities and you have something similar to that girl. Maybe not Fawful so much as Gary Oak's ability to pop up when you least expect it and annoy you.

Fawful you say? That sounds oh...gary oak....lame. If it was more...fawfully (THAT IS A WORD NOW) then that would be amazing. Gary is annoying though. Most true rival in a pokemon game ever.

This is my attempt at a sort of "Cave Story" style of shading. I'm really pleased with the results here (although as I type this, I'm going back and touching up a few things).

Hey, that's pretty cool. Reminds of the sliths from the Exile/Avernum series.

Took some time off from tile-ing, tried my hand at sprite-ing. I admit, my sprite skills need quite a bit of work, hardly up to par with my tile-ing.
Still, I kinda like these two. First is a golem, carved out of granite or something. The second, a big brutish troll. I think I need to redraw the troll to make it look more dynamic though.

Small Enemies
Medium Enemies
So, been sprite-ing again. The top row: Slime, Salamander, Giant Roach, Owl, Falcon, Bat. The bottom row: Werewolf, Werebunny (only beatable with the holy hand-grenade of Antioch... Though that's probably silly...), and a Wereboar.
I may wind up redoing some of these. The falcon, for example, when I made that one, I hadn't quite learned how to do the feathers that I did with the owl. I'll probably go back and fix that one up. The werewolf as well, proportions are a bit out of whack. The werebunny... I'm actually not even sure if I'll include that in the game

Even the most serious games have some goofy moments. Keep the Werebunny! Look at that smile! That's the smile of a winner right there.

I like it! It looks more like a ribbon-bird than a fire-bird to me, so its design could use a bit more fiery details. Maybe you could just surround it in fire. Of course, if it's actively flinging fireballs and inferno flames at me every second in battle, I'll get the message even without the extras I just suggested. If nothing else, it's a really good art style for OHR enemies, I hope you've got plenty more where this came from!

Dammit Pheonix, you're making my Phoenix look bad!
I must say, it's really good. I'm no good with that gritty pixel art.

Now see I like this phoenix. It has a stylized, Zeldaish look to it. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for unique interpretations of classical monsters.

A phoenix boss, huh?
Now this, yeah it looks good, but I would have no idea what it was if you hadn't have told me. I woulda guessed it was a melting jello palm tree or something... and I think there's a skeleton in there too. On the right, under the leaf.
