Macros?

Post by BMR »

So, I was playing Dwarf Fortress, and in the middle of building my grand housing complex out of marble (which will of course eventually be smoothed and engraved, complete with statues of gold and silver) I had a thought. While building anything repetitive, like housing complexes, or 8 z-level deep pillared dining halls, I make extensive use of the macro feature.

Would I be silly in thinking that a macro feature in the OHRRPGCE would be really nifty for map-building? Instead of stamps or copying arbitrary blocks from a map and then pasting them, perhaps a way to record keystrokes and then repeating them would be useful? Granted, I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough with Free Basic to judge if this would be easy (or even possible for that matter) to implement, but just thought I'd throw this idea out there.

[schizophrenia]Now, BMR, go back to working on Legacy you lazy bum. You should have a beta out by now, what with all the things you're asking for, mass-importing, spreadsheet reading, and now macros? The beta should be out in a month or so at the very most... Get back to work![/schizophrenia]

James implemented a key recording and playback feature a few months ago, but it can currently only be accessed using command line options ("ohrkey" files). At some point I want to extend it into a macro system.
