And now, a progress journal of Viridia: Chapter 2. There's not that much left to do, actually, as it's a very short chapter with almost no exploration - it's a progression of cutscenes and battles for the most part. Graphic work has been a breeze ever since I figured out how to use a 16-color palette in GraphicsGale - everything imports flawlessly! All of the chapter's Portraits are done, so I'm here to showcase them in a character list!

You'll control these two throughout the chapter.
On the left is Tyler, a Medic; you'll use his skills to keep your allies in fighting shape - they will in turn take hits and fight for you.
On the right is Bartholomew, a Fire Mage; his purpose is to help end battles quickly with his destructive magic.

They work in the company of Grüner, also known as the Big Priest, who heads a small group of missionaries and mercenaries on an expedition in the Mica Desert. He is quite ardent about his God-given mission to assimilate the desert's heathens, but support has been impossible to find.
(He also blatantly resembles Fenrir's Frumpy in garb and personality)

Also in this company are a slew of generic folks. From left to right,
Preachers, perhaps Grüner's last remaining supporters, who chant with him and follow in his wake. They have been deliberately targeted by enemy assassins lately.
Scouts, who are adept bowmen and have sharp eyes.
Sellswords, the musclemen of the team who tote oversized swords.
Soldiers, who have abandoned the army in favor of mercenary work. They use spears and pack the most defense.

Also in the company is a veteran Medic, who trained Tyler from an ordinary priest to an apprentice medic.

Finally, there's Evan, a Sellsword whose skill is rumored to be incredible; it remains a rumor, though, as Grüner has forbidden her from fighting for reasons unknown. She has recently befriended Tyler.
The company struggles against the Grit clan, who have inhabited an enormous span of the Sand Zone for centuries. Though Grüner and his preachers do their best to garner support peacefully, every expedition so far has ended in a bloody skirmish. The futility of the mission is becoming ever more apparent.

This one looks like she might be willing to switch sides...
Progress is going smoothly and should continue at a strong rate for another month or so. My goal is to finish Viridia up to chapter 5, but I may end up chopping it off at 3 or 4, especially if bugs become a problem. I'll be posting in this journal pretty often while I'm on chapter 2; I may expand it to a general Viridia thread later.
(Comments, questions, and critique are most welcome)
