Mr.Triangle's Maze Thread

Post by RMZ »

So I haven't really heard any feedback from anyone regarding my updated 8-bit contest entry. And I guess, right now, it's a good thing.

There were a lot of bugs with the game, that Worthy and I have fixed. So if you were planning on reviewing it, please hold off until the newest version. I would like to take a point deduction in the 8-bit contest for this, as I'm not really entering the contest to win, moreso than it was a great oppurtunity to update my game.

So please, Moogs, can you decline any reviews you get for the game until the updated version is posted this Sunday?

Things that are going to be fixed/are fixed in my current copy.

-Creator Bots now only hurt you when they're facing you. Alot of people were begging for this ever since the 2003 version... Sooo... There ya go. Haha.

-Some people were frustrated with the fact that you can't save every level. So I'm taking a page from Timpoline and the new version will auto-save after every level.

-Warping. I wanted this in the currently uploaded version, but it didn't make it. So we tweaked a few things and got it to work. You will be able to skip up to 5 levels if you score a few enough amount of retries after the 1st five levels of every batch of 10.

-Some technical stuff was fixed as well, that a lot of you probably did not even see.

I appreciate your patience with this, and the next version will be significantly better.

Meatball, if you're reading this, I really do expect a deduction of some kind for this. Heh.

Thanks guys.

The new version was uploaded. Please go give it a shot. This is the version that is totally up for reviews.

New features include:

Auto-Save - Every time you go to a new level, the game saves automatically. Makes it easier for people who can't play too much in one sitting.

Level Warping - This is for skilled players. I say skilled, because to get to these, you must meet special requirements, that includes getting as few of retries as humanly possible. If you can't get to these without meeting the requirements, you're not good enough to skip a few levels :gonk:

Bot Fix - Bots now only snatch you up if they're looking at you and touching you.

There are a few little bugs, but none that are game breaking in any ways.
Enjoy! Sorry for making you guys stop playing. This version is the intended demo I meant to release for the contest.

Thank you for the auto-save. I know you probably feel like this is a concession on your part, but I really appreciate it.

Eh, I don't ignore everything you guys say. Heh.

And I loved the treatment of auto-saving in Timpoline, because it's perfect for puzzle games, but I didn't know how easy it could be until I sat and thought about it. So it's thanks to you and your fault, haha, that this was put into the game.

A red and green switch?! Egads, what does it do? Perhaps it creates Christmas joy? Or maybe something else?

Favorite stages: 12 and 17.
Most hated stage: 10.

I like the Gentleman Goose that lets you skip stages.

The boss fights are solid, the second one is the better of the two.

Made it to 21, too tired to keep playing right now.

Ending at 21 is perfect. And you're the first person to give feedback on the game, congrats!

The gentleman goose, is actually a character from the game Smokey McGoo. Goujo the Pirate (1st boss), is the boss of levels 1-10, so naturally, a character from that game will be the warp guide. The same goes for all the other bosses. It's a neat little feature we added in.

Level 10 used to be MUCH harder. i find it tame now. It's funny because, Worthy hated level 12 pretty bad and you liked it a lot.

But yeah man, sounds like you had a good play experience. And thanks for giving it a shot.
