I love when people can creatively mesh colors together like you did with the grass and the dinosaur.

Here's some more pics and enemy shots from Knee Deep in the Dead.
This is the further development of the Nuclear Plant, and one of its new enemies, the Nightmare.

Oh, and that last pic is a segment of the finished Shipping/Recieving Area in Hangar South.

Dat ghost.

In all seriousness, I like how you included almost all 16 colors in the palette in 1 sprite, very nice work.

Thanks. I have a lot more enemies going in too. So far, there are the former humans, imps, demons, spectres, shadows, nightmares, cyberdemon lords, baphomet, hellknights, maledict, sabaoth, etc.

Oh, here's that Cyberdemon Lord.

Your graphics look pretty good, spazz. I'm interested in seeing the game in its final stage.

The Cyberdemon sprite looks a little weird with the red parts (his mouth, his arm, his leg, and his guts), though. If I were you I'd go over it and try to make it blend in a bit better. That pink color (fifth from the right on the palette) doesn't look like it's used much, maybe you could replace it with another color and use that to help?

I'm gonna try not to flood this thread with every little thing I make, but here's some of the things I've done since my previous post:

Image
Here's some more foliage. At the top is a small bush. In the center is a generic tree, and at the bottom is the same tree with some kind of fruit.

Image
Here's a snow texture.

Image
And here's that first tree I made, covered in snow. I feel like this one could use some work, though.

Image
Here's the Tyrannosaurus with a shadow, plus three more monsters: a Mastodon, a tiger, and an Amphitere. I'm tweaking the last one right now.

I'm wondering, do you think I should keep the monster shadows solid black? Or should I make them a little less opaque by by checkerboarding them black/transparent?

leave them black.
They are perfect how they are, don't you mess with those.

You make your game this instant.

There's still one more race to do, and then the hero graphics for the monsters. I'm going to make something I've wanted to have for a long time: a series of free/sample graphics where everything can be a hero or an enemy.

Everything I draw as a walkabout gets hero graphics, every hero graphic gets handed a weapon in one of its poses and turned into an enemy, and every enemy is given a walkabout. I release them in clusters when I have enough of a given theme.

The game itself won't be much to write home about; you build a party of four heroes from the four races and three classes (three races having multiple options for sex). Your party then goes on a quest to retrieve the four elemental orbs in the locations of Glacier, Forest, Volcano, and Beach - these four tasks can be taken on in any order. After this, you fight Big Bad, the boss of the four bosses of the elemental locations.

I'm not planning on making playable orcs, slimes, skeletons, snakes, carrots, or the like, but I'll still have it all dummied out.

Mr.Karr, do I detect several parody characters in that line-up? Or am I just going funny (read as: funnier) in the head?

I can tell that the elf is Link, that one is obvious. But is the Pucca look alike and the Dorf Fort-esk Dorf White-Mage just coincidences?

Image

It is just a coincidence isn't it :(

The cafeteria!!

ImageImage

Where food (if you can really count that stuff as food...) attacks, and girls with 4.0 GPAs somehow manage to get words horribly wrong.

Image

And of course, some of the food comes with a "secret ingredient" that probably violates a few health codes (based on a true story, by the way. I really did get a cockroach pizza once... or at least a cockroach leg pizza, anyway--I never checked under the cheese to see if the rest was in there or not.)

Image

Hmm, Bridget seems a little angry in this last one. I wonder what they're talking about.

Image

Also, a switch... which won't work when the power's out. Whoops.

Image

And, just like in Okédoké, anything made in the image of Spongebob has got to be evil. You can't fight the Spongebob piñata, though. Not yet, anyway.

The intentional ones are
Human Male Warrior = Mario (I made this one a bit of a stretch, but he set a precedent)
Elf Male Warrior = Link
Elf Female Warrior = Zelda
Dwarf Thief = FF1 Ninja
Elf Male Thief = FF1 Thief
Dwarf Mage = FF1 White Mage
Elf Male Mage = DW3 Sage
Elf Female Mage = Princess Toadstool

I did like Pucca, though, and was kinda wondering who that sprite reminded me of.

Not at all familiar with the sprite you posted or the game it's from, but maybe I wanna be.

Wow, and to think the nasiest thing I've ever found on a pizza was a mushroom.

That game looks good, Fnrrf. Keep it up.

Just drew some concept art for my game yesterday.

Image
I might not use all of these. I kinda have a thing against using demons as enemies in games (since that sends the wrong message about how to defeat them).

You could always have an attack, only effective against demons, representing whatever it may be that you believe is the right way to defeat them. And make them immune to conventional attacks, so that's the only way to go.

I mean, we've got 64 elements and percentage-based resistances now, after all. Specialized stuff for specific games that don't work 100% like the generic RPG is exactly what these features were made for.

When I saw Scarrstream I somehow read it as Ska-Scream, that would be awesome, Reggae/Punk influenced giant killer robot.

Also First Apparition looks like Geodude's rich uncle. Even if you don't use demons in this game please use that design for an enemy regardless :)
