Horace nods when Karamon describes the fate of the animal that went through the demon face, "As I suspected when I detected transmutative conjurations."

"I still fear that the illusory room may be designed to make us lost, but if you say it ended up in another room, then could it be a teleportal of some kind?"

"That's possible. So far, the rat seems to be alive, so the place is perhaps not immediately lethal. On the other hand, it might teleport the rat over a pit of spikes, and being as small as it is it might have managed to avoid those spikes and land safely.

"You are right about it making us lost though, I would much rather not have us separated in there. I suppose we could tie us all together, but that presents problems of its own if we are forced into combat."

"We also do not know yet if anything that enters the portal will end up in that room every time; it could very well take us to different rooms and separate us, and bring to us different fates."

Karamon's not sure exactly what ended the spell on the rat, but there are only so many things thsat would do that and death is certainly one of them. The snake has gone a bit further into the tunnel and seems to be resting. Karamon can see a bit further down the tunnel, but it turns again providing little anwsers as to where it might lead. However, the archway rat does seem to be somewhere sort of close to the snake.

Kamron snaps out of his trance, vision returning once more.

"The rat and the snake are fairly close to one another, it would seem. My guess is that this mist door and the tunnels in the snake pit are interconnected somehow. Whether that means it's safe though, is another question."

Slickens considers the motivations of a dungeon designer, musing aloud with one eye open. "What would a dungeon be without rats and snakes? It'd be a shame if your traps eliminated them before they could be a nuisance to adventurers."

"That's a... good point actually. If there are snakes here, then that must mean they have access to some sort of sustenance. There's certainly more here than a dusty, dead tomb."

Kamaron looks down the pit, then says:

"Slickens, do you think you'd be able to capture a few snakes safely? I only have six rats left, and I would like to have a few more vermin at hand to scout out areas in the future."

The half-orc rubs his chin, "It could be we are the sustenance. Do you think it's possible the illusory door of mist is intended to trap us with the snakes with difficulty escaping? But never mind that, we shouldn't rule out there being more to it than that."

"It could very well be that we are indeed their sustenance, but I believe that they certainly have more to feed on than errant adventurers. The entrance was sealed when we arrived, and these snakes were here before us. Now, unless the madman in charge of this tomb intentionally buries it after each group of adventurers comes by and opens it up, I'd say that there's enough wildlife down here to at least support the snakes. Perhaps rats, large insects, maybe small animals and the sort. That said though, I'm not entirely sure how that helps us. Interesting to know, but perhaps useless for now."

Slickens peers over the side of the pit, returning there if he has to, and takes another look at the snakes. Do they look venomous? At the highests levels of initiation, a Hammersmith Monk allegedly had such control of his body that poison would merely pool on his skin and run off, rejected by the very blood!

They'd once tried to explain to Slickens how this worked, but it sounded way more boring than it was worth. Still, there's good eating on 'em. One to eat, a couple as guinea pigs. What could it hurt? "Got somethin' to catch 'em in?"

Survival check to see if (slickens thinks) they're poisonous? How deep's the hole?

"Nothing, unfortunately. Well... there is that tarp I used, but it's full of holes by now. Could maybe use this shovel as well, but it might be hard to contain them safely if they're poisonous."

Catt takes out one of her fishhooks, and attaches it to her ball of twine (300ft) she lowers it down the snake-pit.

"I don't have any bait, but hopefully the little guys will bite at the shiny."

If she manages to snag one and drag it up, she will try to grab its neck as close to the head as possible to avoid bites... unless...

"Hey! Renny! Johnny! Slick! Any of you know anything about handling snakes?"

If someone else wants to do the actual grabbing after she pulls it up, that would be just fine.

"I think it's a bad idea to play with those vipers down there. I can't quite tell from here, but they are surely poisonous. They likely won't outright attack us unless provoked. Best not to provoke them in my opinion," said Renold.
Johnny nodded his agreement.

Outside, Wilstra was looking up at the sky and beginning to get worried. "The weather is about to get very bad," said told her traveling companion. "These cloaks won't protect us from this. We'll need to take shelter somewhere." As she explained things, the temperature began to slowly drop.
Wilstra removed the hood of her cloak. A faint popping sound could be heard as the cloak's spell was broken for the day. Wilstra approached the others.
Wilstra was a young human woman, perhaps in her twenties. Her eyes were a bright green and her hair a deep brown. In her hair leaves could be seen, hinting at her druidic nature.
"The weather is taking a turn. You'll need to secure your horses inside somewhere," Wilstra said to Sigmund and Karamon. "I believe a hailstorm is coming. I would guess it to be here tomorrow morning."

Horace glances to the woman that arrives, not recalling seeing her around during the party's time with the adventurers, "Well met. I take it that it is getting late, then?"

In response to Renald, he responds, "At the very least, I have potions to kill poison, and I can prepare it as a spell should we need to cut off a snake's head and feed on the rest of it," then he chuckles at his own idea, "Doesn't sound very appetizing, does it?"
