"I overhear Johnny talking about how it's early, and I reply to him:"

"It is indeed early, but instead of going into this dungeon as we are now, I would much rather spend the entirety of today preparing for the journey. We know there are a lot of traps, so we'll prepare long sticks to trigger them from a distance in much the same way Catt did. Or would you rather be the one to go on ahead and stick your arm into every black portal we come across? More than the long sticks, if you've got some outdoorsy type skill, I wouldn't say no to more rats, or rabbits, or whatever small wildlife you can manage to capture. I still have a few rats left, but if we're going to be using them to scout ahead I would like plenty more to work with."

"I look outside at the area, considering what else we might be able to scrounge together."

"What's more, we don't know how long we'll be in there, or if we'll be able to get out easily. Tell me, Johnny boy, do you want to potentially be trapped in there because you ventured in today, or would you rather prepare for now and then move out tomorrow? Last time I checked, we don't even have a ready supply of drinking water or food. Well, granted, brother Horace and I can create water and water magically, but I'm sure the both of us would prefer to save our divine powers for something better than being glorified chefs. One particular power that comes to mind is, as brother Horace suggests, sending a magical rat through the illusions. Your call though, I'm not stopping you from heading in unprepared."

Catt is eager to get back to poking things with sticks, so she heads outside to help Kamaron and Horace with the prep work. "C'mon Johnny go catch some rabbits or something! Make yourself useful!"

On her way past the two hooded people she says "Rabbits! You like rabbits, don't you? You going to help with something or what?"

As soon as she has at least 4 really good long sticks she is going to go back inside to the face, and proceed with poking each of the eyes, and each of the nostrils.

This time she will tie herself off with the rope first like she did before going down the pits, and will be ready to drop the stick if it jerks away.

Renold scoffed, "Rabbits? You haven't noticed have you?" Renold cupped his ear and began to turn in different directions. "Do you hear any birds?"
Indeed there were no bird calls. There was almost no ambient sounds at all that one would expect to find in the wilderness such as this.
" I haven't sensed a single wild animal anywhere near us," stated Renold.

Catt, back at the devil mask after quickly picking up some pointy sticks, Catt poked all over the devil face, excluding the mouth. Nothing seemed to happen.

"Boo! Boring!" declares Catt, when the nostrils yield no results.

Catt begins poking one of the sticks into the misty doorway

As Catt pokes the mist, the yellow, blue, and orange crystals around the archway light up. The stick seems unaffected by the mist and poking the stick further through yields no other results aside from the crystals lighting up.

Catt unties the rope, and ties it to the stick. She throws it as far into the mist as she can, and then tries to drag it back.

If this goes without mishap, she will re-tie the rope to herself, and step through the door.

If someone actually physically restrains her, she won't go through with it, but if someone just verbally tells her it is a bad idea she will reply "Okay, back in a minute!"

Kamaron does indeed physically restrain Catt.

"And what if there's poisonous gas on the other side, and the stick is unaffected seeing as how it is just a stick? Here, tie the rope to this chicken and toss it in. At least we'll be able to tell if it's immediately lethal inside."

Catt is completely delighted when Kamaron produces a live chicken. "Where were you keeping that?" She laughs.

She proceeds to tie the chicken and implement the test.

The stick comes back just fine. However, the chicken vanishes out of the rope. It is no where to be found.

"Good call, Kam!" Says Catt as she checks the rope for blood or claw marks

The rope is devoid of blood, claw marks or even stray feathers. Judging from the limpness of he rope, it's possible the chicken vanished the moment it passed through the archway.

"Right, let's try this."

Kamaron reaches into the wicker basket at his belt and retrieves three rats. He briefly passes his hand over them, causing them all to glow. When the glow fades, he walks up to the two portals (or at least they seem to be portals). He then takes one rat and tosses it into the mouth, and the other into the mist. The third he keeps on hand for later.

Spell Used: Status

Can tell location of and distance to subject. Can also tell general health of subject as well as any status effects. Lasts for 10 hours. Distance does not matter once the spell has been cast.

Slickens meditates with one eye open, watching the chicken-rat-elf baiting of the mysterious foggy chamber.

Karamon senses:
The rat tossed into the devil's mouth appears to have teleported far to the south. The rat tossed into the misty archway appears to be to the west and down, as if under the room where the demon was fought. After a short amount of time, the spell on the rat tossed into the devil's mouth abruptly ends.

"Right."

Kamaron points at the green devil face.

"There? Definitely not. The rat that went through seems to have ceased to be or something, perhaps died."

He gestures to the mist door.

"This one though, the rat still seems to be around. It feels like he's under that room over there, where we fought the demon thing. Perhaps there's some sort of passageway that connects this door, the snake pit, and the demon room? Let me see what the snake is doing."

He focuses on the snake, going blind once more to see through the snake's eyes.

Can Kamaron tell why the spell ended? e.g. death, blocked, something else, etc...
