Instead of picking up gold, I have been assuming that we have been teleporting around to stores, looking for items we want to buy. Then when we find something we teleport back to the cave, pick up exactly the right amount, and then teleport back (EDIT: The next day) and buy it.

I wonder if the shopkeepers find our behavior suspicious?

You wouldn't be able to teleport that many times. You'd have to either teleport to town with some amount of gold in hand. or discuss the amount with a shopkeeper the day before and return the following day.

Unless you purchase another source of teleportation, the HELMET of teleportation will only work 3 times a day.

Picking up an amount of gold for yourself might leave you with less gold then you'd like. 50gp weigh a pound. So when you start talking about thousands of gold, you're talking about hundreds of pounds and huge bags full of gold.

Lao will be the first one to do anything in the next chapter of the campaign. That is, if Lao decides to keep playing. I'll be posting a call out to new players soon. Anyone wishes to retire their character may do so. If you wish to make a new character after that you may also do so, and you can of course quit if you'd like too. As of right now, Ribbon is retired.

good point. then, we'll say he picked up enough gold for a backpack, some rations, and various things i should've had when i started, along with 50gp for miscellaneous expenses.

i'm assuming that when the next chapter starts, we'll all be completely healed?

EDIT: bought some stuff. i hope i'm reading the spreadsheet right. i'm trying not to blow a lot of the party's gold.

Ehaism had 518 gold that he was carrying from earlier in the campaign. he spent that first when making his purchases. He is currently only carrying 10 gold. I also increased his weight by 5 lbs on account of feasting. (I hope that is okay)

Correct. You'll want to read through that thread. You'll also want to gain access to a player's handbook in some way shape or form.

This site:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
Can help alot.

Please post here again, or in the character thread, if more questions come up.

I'm here too...

But... I'm having trouble finding the post with the exact specifications that I should be using to build my character... It's 3.5e, ECL4, monster raced, Starting wealth x5, Point buy?

... or is it ECL7?

It was ECL4, but then we leveled. You should join in with our effective level.

So... dice rolls are handled on the honor system?

Also, I've got a character ready for GM inspection...

I hope this works.

I don't really see anything wrong with your character. It seems like a fine addition to the game. I'll be starting the next chapter soon after all the new characters are completed. I'll try to have the new characters introduced asap.

EDIT: Oh oops. you get 19,000 gp for being 7th level. Not the amount you have written down. (Unless I missed a big purchase of yours somewhere.) You can buy things out of the DMG or the players handbook at base value. (You need not adhere to the town's pricing until you've completed your character.)

Ok, so there's the lead in for the 2nd chapter just to let you guys have some idea of the direction of things.
The new party members are going to be introduced in the very next scene so we're going to go ahead and wait on the new characters to get done.
Also, I'm not 100% sure, but are all of you done buying stuff? As a warning, you'll want to buy it now rather than later. Than again, gold might come in handy later on. Who knows really....

Yes, I'm done and I don't care...

...

I hate doing inventory.

(Except that I wasn't. I had to retype my changes to my inventory, and forgot to erase my old canned spells list.)

Ehaism is done shopping.

It is a miracle that he has not accidentally cut his lips off while kissing his new sword.

I was looking more at Mogri, who wasn't put his stuff onto his character sheet. I was also looking at Cile, who still has both the teleportation helmet and The Rod. It's fine if he keeps them of course. It'll free up space on your actual characters and still let you use the items in town.
