2012 In Review 027 - Open Trail

Pre-Thoughts: This download is going to take FOREVER so I might skip ahead a bit. JSH's stream made it look kind of fun, but I'm definitely going to be keeping my sound off 'cause I hate sudden loud noises. I do remember seeing this game when it first went up and being curious about the alleged Oreg...

2012 In Review 026 - Pearl Tear

Pre-Thoughts: I had no idea Sparrowhawk was still making games. Don't really check the gamelist on CastleParadox too often these days, so maybe I've missed a lot over there. I remember her and her brothers being like, at least competent with the engine so I expect it won't be terrible.... then again...

2012 In Review 025 - Spirit Chronicles Rift DEMO

Pre-Thoughts: Wow, I really didn't pay attention to anything last year. Demo is telling me its unfinished, perhaps horribly so. Bet it's gonna take me say, 45 minutes at most. Spirit Chronicles Rift is making me think it's going to very somewhat anime and take itself pretty seriously, which could be...

Gonna raise the same complaints here I did in the user thread. If you're going to do this, you need to do it in a way that will make it more meaningful than the long running Top 30. Otherwise you're just doing the same thing they're doin, only at a slower pace. I like to treat the Top 30 as a list o...

Just got past the first Dungeon Master and am loving it so far. The shark as voluntary pointless battle for EXP, Gold and Loot is a super intriguing concept and the jokes are excellent.

Maybe we should have some discussions about who these people are, why they deserve to be enshrined, what their greatest accomplishments are? I don't know if any of you have been to say, Cooperstown or Canton, but part of what makes them great is that it isn't just a list of names. There's plaques an...

2012 In Review 024 - Ortega Colonies

Pre-Thoughts: I've felt bad for not trying this game more when it came out. It was TMC and SDHawk's random collab, so naturally they went for some crazy programmer kind of thing. It was vaguely roguelike, about an astronaut trying to survive his way through something to get to someplace. Very nice g...

2012 In Review 023 - Universal Wars

Pre-Thoughts: I think this was one of the last games released in 2012, it's at least one of the last alphabetically, no idea what the hell it's going to be about. I assume some kind of Space Opera which could be fun, never enough Sci-Fi RPGs. I think JCEnterprises is the guy who made Escape From Tal...

Oh, don't get me wrong the movement is FANTASTIC, the OHR just poops all over it because of the frame rate thing. In a lot of ways I wasn't very fair because the "I Want To Be The Guy" like genre ALL has things like this, where the challenge is more learning the pattern and performing a de...

2012 In Review 022 - Ar Puh Guh

Pre-Thoughts: 'nother one I got no idea what to expect. The name makes it seem like it's gonna be really god damn stupid. Meowski has been begging for people to review it, which either means its good and he's desperate to draw attention to it or its terrible and he wants to do the same. I'm imaginin...

Second batch

Didn't think it'd take me this long to get 'em together, but here's my second batch of reviews. Up next on my list is AR PUH GUH, which is a big download and Universal Wars which is also relatively big. I don't want to look any farther ahead than that, so it'll be a bit before my next updates. I'm s...

2012 In Review 021 - Silhouette

Post-Addendum To PreThoughts: *WARNING* This is a puzzle heavy game. I don't think I get too heavy into spoilers, but you never can tell. If you want your experience to be pure, don't read this first. Just be prepared to die a bunch of times, don't be afraid to save and reload. It's part of the game...

2012 In Review 020 - Alice Falls Asleep

Pre-Thoughts: Hey, I think this is the first review I've done this year of something I did! Did I do anything else last year? I don't know! I feel kind of weird going back to this, because it was the random collab contest and Sephy and I's original plan was, if I recall, more of a Dance-Dance-Revolu...

2012 In Review 019 - Memento Mori

Pre-Thoughts: Oooh, two good ones in a row. This was, without a doubt, the best platformer I have ever played on the OHR. Instead of Trailblazers retro-Metroid-Mario Brothers vibe, Moogle went for the throat with a twitchy, flash game/I want to be the guy inspired puzzle platformer thingy. Was so da...
