I've never played FFT, but Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was one I enjoyed for its story and the presentation thereof, as well as its class mechanics (even if the specifics of that were super terribly balanced). Really the main difference between a regular RPG and a "tactical" RPG is that ...

MSPaint (pre-Vista versions of it at least) is probably the best program to go to for user-friendliness. Biggest downside is having to draw with MSPaint's default 16 and then re-coloring in the OHR but I always considered that a minor hindrance.

I personally recommend Gimp, because it's a decent program and also it's really easy to optimize pictures for the OHR using it. I tried it and it burned me for taking peoples' recommendations for art programs for years. Literally nothing about using it was user-friendly or a step up from my experie...

When I was introduced to it those pictures filled the width of my monitor.

Use a drawing program that 1) is suited for pixel art and 2) actually plays well with palettes (that is, not MS Paint), it will help you in the long run Have any actual examples of such a program? I've never found a program better for sprite art than the OHR's built-in graphics editor or MSPaint.

You might be able to do that with the mark and clone tools, but it's a lot easier if you're using a graphics editor that allows selecting regions of arbitrary shape. (Which I think is one of the top things missing from the OHR graphics editors) So far I haven't found any art programs that can do it...

I downloaded it once, I think, back in 2005 or so but I either never played it or played only a few minutes and then deleted it after I got bored.

I'm not a good artist, but I've found the best results just from drawing often rather than any particular techniques helping a lot on their own.

It's been talked about for a long time but between the cancellation of Asperchu, the indefinite hiatus of Sonichu, my recent introduction to the world of Oren Otter, and the long-awaited demise of the computer I was making my last major passion project on, I feel I have finally been nudged into draw...

How well a reference joke will go over has largely to do with the audience's familiarity and how much staying power the thing being referenced had. You can make references to the original Star Trek, the Lone Ranger, or Sherlock Holmes. People are dropping Shakespeare quotes into their writing around...

My first exposure to All Your Base was an episode of X-Play back when there was a TechTV. To this day I still find references to it amusing, but not laugh-out-loud hilarious. My first exposure to Symphony of the Night quotes was someone in a Jerkstore thread making a comparison between my manner of ...
