I have OGG versions of a few classic BAMs. I was somewhere in the Bs in my conversion process when my old 98 machine died. I used a couple of these in Nathan's Halloween; the noise removal process wasn't perfect and I felt the small amount of scratchiness helped give them an eerie feel. I also used ...

I do remember some very ancient versions would actually leave pieces of old deleted files in uninitialized file data. I think maybe it only worked on a real DOS computer, and it was probably only files written with the assembly language setpicstuff/storeset code, or some such thing as that. If you ...

Turns out, if you type something into a global text string and then delete it, it still remains there. I see stuff like "Lightess", "Shadowss" (both originally Darkness), "Airth" (Earth) and "Accu^cyaaa" I've had old spell list names from characters whose spe...

I remember the hero of the game was named Leonard Shaw, and his suit of armor basically looked like he was a giant can with limbs and a head. I don't remember the name of the game itself off the top of my head. I wondered why the text strings were replaced with random unimplemented status effects in...

I was frustrated at not having a web connection and the eventual death of the computer I was making my other OHR projects on recently (fortunately I sent most of the important files to DropBox), so I opened up an old joke game from like 2011 (it was a self-mockery of Nintento Quest) and decided to r...

Oh joy! The things I miss out on while trying to find my local Comcast store without Google Maps~

And yeah, Paralysis Elemental Pumped is also how experience was displayed on another old OHR game I remember playing back in the day.

https://i.imgur.com/PzPbAtS.png Who is this mysterious gray-furred, pale blue-skinned winged mouse? His true identity remains a secret, but in English you can call him Nezumi Kamen (and in Japanese you can call him Masked Mouser). https://i.imgur.com/QkVMvP9.png The tamest interaction you'll have w...

No new progress on Trytuges. Last thing I did was map out a few rooms for the first dungeon, but I never placed anything in it - no objects for visual flair, no NPCs, no random encounters. It's got some doors placed but the only door link is the one for making the exit lead back to the overworld. I'...

Something else I was thinking about. Do text boxes really need to be global? If they were tied to a certain map there would be far less to keep track of. Having a look at Vikings of Midgard, there are 2866 text boxes in the game, thats a huge number. I think making them global makes them easier to ...

It's hard for me to believe I've worked at this thing for this long without defining the Blizzard spell - and I still haven't imported the attack graphics for the healing spells.

I don't know what it is but I'm seriously not having fun with this game now.

It was a monster in Spellshard, AKA the best 8-bit OHR game to date.

Oh, and also D&D but that's less important.

I don't have anything I need to do tomorrow, so unless they call me into work I can dummy out the geography and doormaps of the game's two dungeons, put in the random encounters, and add the boss NPCs. Then I can share it for scrutiny and work on adding minibosses, flavor encounters, and balance aft...

Relieving some stress by working on a different game for a bit, another one with Fnrrf's graphics as a template to work from.

BTW, I'm really sick of switching between the spellings 'color' and 'colour'. I've decided that it's hypocritical to complain about the English language while using British spelling, which is usually clearly worse than American, but both spellings 'color' and 'colour' are far off the mark anyway. T...
