Impressions so far: Nice butt.

But seriously, I'll give it a proper try sometime tomorrow. I'm excited that a new version release is finally at hand.

This is my first attempt at using a monster design sketch for reference and making it in Aseprite (3x zoom) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/czlkiwoytxovgda/monstshroom2.png Started a couple other of these, this is my first finished one. Hunting down stray pixels that didn't match up with the res...

I tried it mostly as-is and it's slightly buggy but pretty functional, I'll post the script later when I get it all polished up.

Thank you, it's beginning to make more sense. I suppose that instead of having an on-step NPC throughout the maze, I could make a single NPC that sets the each step script to check for zones at the entrance of it. And another NPC at the exit to turn it off.

I'll get to work on this now.

I think this will be way easier with map zones and write map/pass block commands I think I see what you're getting at, but could you elucidate a bit? I haven't worked with zones yet so I'm not really sure how they're handled compared to NPCs. Is there a way to make on-step checks for zones instead ...

Questions about making a spike floor maze script

Hello, it's about time I got my feet wet on some dungeon element type scripts and I'm definitely feeling a bit rusty, since the last time I really worked on scripting was during the mouse click contest. Anyways, I'm going to make a spike floor maze in a dungeon, where it looks like a bunch of untrav...

Aseprite - a very good multiplatform sprite editor

http://www.aseprite.org/ Just discovered this recently, and bought it so I can have something that I can work on sprite sets seamlessly between my desktop or laptop. I find it's well worth the asking price as it has a lot of dandy features, like a sprite rotation algorithm that's actually good, and ...

Just off the top of my head, maybe have the timer repeat itself every 1 sec/18 ticks while decrementing a global variable that's an integer value of the seconds left? Then other things in the script can reduce or increase the value of that variable in bursts, from penalties or bonuses.

Interesting article on creatively active times of the day

Pretty interesting stuff, I'll have to take some of it into account while planning a routine game development schedule. Definitely going to make good on using my free mornings on the weekend.

Indeed, the main character's stats went down as they levelled up. I forget what the renamed stats for "Level" and "Experience" were but it was something negative, so you were accumulating something negative as you fought more battles and becoming weaker. I thought that was pretty...

Windows <-> Linux nightlies question

I have Linux Mint on my laptop and Windows 7 on my desktop. I know that you can open a .RPG file made or previously updated with an older nightly or stable release, but you can't do the opposite and open a .RPG file made or previously updated with a nightly release that was released after the curren...

Dropbox for Linux - completely broken?

I recently installed Mint on a refurb Thinkpad I picked up, and I've noticed about a week ago that the tray icon didn't work. So I tried removing it and reinstalling it... and now nothing works. Apparently this has been a known issue for at least a few weeks but Dropbox hasn't fixed it yet, and none...

OK, here we go then. My Trello is pretty well stocked with easily accomplished bits of progress so I can shop around for 1-2 to finish in one day. I'm also going to try out the 5-1-1 rule (5 days of work, 1 day of testing/cleanup/revision, 1 day completely off) during the contest period. I did a qui...

Thanks for the hint! That corner was one of those things where in the back of my mind, I feel positive it just had a treasure chest at some point and I had already gotten it earlier. I think that's why I didn't explore it. Therefore, here's a miniature bonus part where I get all the treasures and re...
