This week has been an absolute headache attempting to mix my 3d and 2d styles without them clashing. I finally figured it out. If I place 2d images in the background and foreground, leaving the midground for the map, things some how work! Here's an example, I got lot's done tonight. It may be hard t...

I am fairly certain I am going about this all wrong. Suggestions are most welcome. :) I'm glad milky tracker is working out for you. As for you trying to figure out which notes your singing, it seems you need to train your ears a bit. This isn't something that comes easy for all people. You're goin...

@Gizmog: You're right, who cares about audience. There are tonnes of other place that our games can get posted and become known. The focus should be to increase our developed base and work as one to create some of the best games ever made, not just amongst the OHR community, but worldwide. This is k...

Bob the Hamster wrote:@sheamkennedy: Does milkytracker require an external keyboard? That would certainly explain why I haven't been able to get anywhere with it.
Milky tracker does not require an external keyboard. But I think it supports midi, so a keyboard can be hooked up if need be.

Oh! I have a suggestion, I don't know if you would be able to implement it or not, but it would be awesome to have a normal and hard mode for the game, normal being as it is so far, and hard mode being that of tougher enemies and whatnot. You know, for the sadists who love extremely difficult games...

This guy made getting started pretty easy for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2s04YYO0Wg The program looks a bit complexed when you open it, but once you follow a few videos of his it should make perfect sense. The program reminds me of a sampling synthesizer. You basically either choose a wavef...

Re: Vorpal Florist - Playtesting thread

The background music is just a placeholder stolen from Bell of Chaos. I need help with music. I am hopeless at it. I spent close to an hour last night just trying to find some software that I could even figure out how to play ONE NOTE with. I gave up in frustration after 5 different programs and ze...

Hmm, that idea is very similar to the colab contest. However, I like the idea of helping new people make their game dreams come true. What we could do is basically offer a service to make people's games for them. Making short tech demos of people's game ideas could go a long way in bringing people ...

NEW EVEN BETTER CONTEST IDEA: Pair an experienced member with a newcomer, make a short game together. The newcomer comes up with the basic game idea, characters, features, while the member essentially just guides them and shows them the ropes of the program. This would work best with a decently long...

That's all pretty awesome sheam. I suppose we can't really ask for more from people in the community. What I'm thinking is somehow creating a large event or something that we invite people from outside the community to come in and join. We have the Heart of the OHR contest coming up, so maybe we ca...
