Alternatively, just have the artists throw whatever they can at you, and each "chapter" would just feature a different artist. Honestly that was the original plan, and I think it may be the most suitable. The book doesn't really need a definite theme/genre as was stated earlier. I think e...

I'm confused. Why would we need a "theme" or "genre". It's already all going to be pixel art. Does it really all also have to be robots or pigs or something? Do we really want to make a book that's page after page of different types of pixeled pigs? I agree that a theme is too n...

Genres are a good idea too. I'm going to sit back for a bit and see what other people like or suggest before I decide where to go with this since I want it to be to the benefit of the majority.

Nice. Clayfighter did come to mind when I said that. I was also thinking of some older claymation Snes game too but I forget the name of it...

As for a deadline I think it will be fairly open ended. I don't want to rush anyone. I think maybe we should aim for 2 months though. Once we hit that deadline I'll process everyones submissions in to the proper sizing and format. If there is any late submissions then it should be fine so long as th...

This actually gives me a further idea (something I don't have the time for). You could instead make characters out of clay, then animate them frame by frame with a camera taking snapshots. Then load the frames into a graphics program, trim them and reduce them as you've done here, then import them a...

Again, I'm loving all these. It sort of reminds me of Donkey Kong Country's style of sprites and imagery in a way. Kind of an awesome surreal quality to it.

@Willy: I'm glad you're on board! Willy's right. We should decide on a theme. There will be enough room for directing people towards your projects in your biography sections if you so choose to, so graphically it would be better if everyone came up with something original. I like the themes Willy me...

Really neat. I may have to experiment with this. I like the idea of scaling down a reference image. I'm not sure what you had in mind for the pixel art book but I'd sure be happy showing of some of these. Really cool concept. I'll send you a photo of my face later. I thought I had some on my compute...

@BMR: That's so awesome. I really like the whole concept. At first I was thinking it is time consuming but I actually just realized it takes me about the same amount of time to draw portraits from scratch. So if I was to send you a picture of my face for your game, then you'd want the picture at 200...

Ahh yeah. I kind of started to do the same thing. Although I'm getting kind of lazy about jumping back and forth between making NPCs and going to the walkabout window so I thought I'd push to get a "name:" line. I'll keep using the aforementioned method but hopefully this feature gets adde...

I'd like to request a very simple feature

In my game I am using the walktall script and I have noticed a slight problem that comes along with it. The problem is that when I make NPCs for my maps, the NPCs have no sprite due to no walkabout sprite being drawn for them. This makes it hard to differentiate NPC #1 from #15, from#26... you get t...

Alright, so it looks like things are slowing down in this thread. The way I figure things, it seems as though we have 10 people willing to contribute to the book. This is assuming that all the "maybe's" are yes's. This assumes that on average everyone contributes 5 pieces/pages (Note: one ...
