I always appreciated the graphic style behind Tests of Normality , and I think this exceeds even that. The painted-on approach really works for the maps. And I echo what Willy said about adding details to the scenery. This is definitely a journey of sound, and well made. And I like how effectively y...

Been playing this at work a bit during downtimes, and I think I'm getting my friends hooked on it. So, this is definitely worth continuing. Having said that, I've noticed that elements that appear in the queue after the 50th creation are no longer selectable. This is a problem since I have no idea h...

I think the trick to making a good mountain is to consider your perspective. Mountain trails will look like trails, not necessarily like suspended rocks in the middle of nowhere. Concentrate on mountainous terrain and the trails that cut through them first. Then, if you even have room on the map for...

This came up on Castle Paradox's version of this thread, so I thought I'd reiterate here: Late arrivals may still issue bugfix/feature requests, but James is no longer giving bounties for them. If you didn't post your ransom over the summer, you won't get the bounty. Deadline is too close now. Also,...

Your game description mentioned four levels and a boss, and I was able to get to the fourth level (the one with the huge lake taking up most of the screen) before facing any real problems. I couldn't finish it, though, because two chase enemies blocked the narrow beach that I needed to escape, and I...

Also, if you want to consider your game for the Heart of the OHR Contest, assuming it's a classic-ish RPG, you're welcome to post the game link in this thread if you'd like: http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3679 The sooner we get entrants, the better. Might even spur the other contest...

Been working pretty tirelessly on a couple of my games lately. Thought I'd revive this thread a little with some of the new numbers: Name: Entrepreneur: The Beginning Genre: Business Strategy Filesize: 38,901 KB Status: Released Demo / WIP Tilesets: 17 Walkabout Sets: 55 Heroes: 1* Enemies: 0 Attack...

Just giving everyone a reminder that we are now down to the last two months of this contest. Hopefully those of you who wanted to enter have started your games. I also hope those of you promising bugfixes are getting your game plans for fixing them ready. And I also hope that those of you planning t...

It sounds like you're attempting perfectionism at an early stage. Just start working on the next area and come back to this spot whenever you're tired of adding new content. Although I haven't made a firm decision about this for Heart of the OHR yet, I have been known to offer weeklong bugfixing ext...

I think I did find all of those special pieces of equipment, but I never know what's good against what. This mini-walkthrough will help, though. It didn't occur to me how helpful it would be to cap stats at a low level and save the rest for equipment and item upgrades. That might help me balance my ...

Yeah, Chapter 5 definitely needed more distractions and more puzzle elements. The gates sound like the best part of the update, since they'll make it more puzzle-ish like Chapter 3 was. I think that was why I was so disappointed with Chapter 5 (compared to the other chapters at least)--it really did...

Looking forward to this as usual. Are you adding anything else to the earlier chapters again? Once this is released, it would be helpful to know whether it's okay to start from wherever we left off, or if it's recommended to start over. Speaking of which, did you ever update Chapter 5 with little si...

No, you can start any time up until the last minute. I generally discourage last minute entries for the same reason I discourage procrastination: I like to see evidence of quality going into the game. If you can put together a decent game between now and then, you'll have a fair chance at doing well...
