Incidentally, I've done exactly this with full blown cracking animation and character falling. You really don't need a tag or an NPC. You just need to "read map block" in an each-step script and have the hero fall through if his coordinates match the conditions set in "read map block&...

(You also have to have a current version of HSPEAK, and the latest nightly while you're at it, to get abs to work since it's newer than the Ypsiliform release.) It's your best function for proximity based scripts since you can simplify distance from hero in any direction and still boil it down to a ...

You have to first download the file for the animation scripts (at the top of the article), and then include them into your plotscript as:

Code: Select all

include, "animation scripts.txt"
Don't forget to write in the quotation marks.

The commands should work then.

Jerk move on Voltire's part. Butterfly Effect! -Voltire's comment prompted Moogle to revive the Mario thread. -Comments in the Mario thread reminded everyone about last year's Fan Game Contest. -Mention of said contest prompted Spoonweaver to launch the 2011 Fan Game Contest. -Fan Game Contest 2011...

On each issue from here on out, or are we talking retroactively, too? I think you'll get more legs out of this idea if you have a way to remind new readers that there is still several years of relevant content to catch up on. I'd also like to see the polls added to each issue prior to the 30s, but I...

What's Shizuma got to do with this?
That one's my fault. For some reason I thought he originated the fan game contest. I actually mean Spoonweaver. So, substitute Shizuma's name with Spoonweaver's for everything mentioned in the last four posts.

So, if you're not gonna work on it anymore... What's the story Pepsi? Because ShakeyAir's graphics reminded me a little bit of a sadistic Alice and Wonderland , I thought the Mushroom Kingdom in this story should've had a post-apocalyptic dark side. The tone of the story reflects that. Here's the p...

Game of the Year 2010 Votes: Best Game of 2010: The overall best games. Vote for five to ten games. 1. Legendary Heroes -I actually like this game more than I do Motrya, therefore it gets my #1 vote. I don't care if the rest of the community disagrees. This one's my favorite for 2010. Love everythin...

Five years of games you say? You may first want to peruse the last 47 issues of HamsterSpeak for a comprehensive list of things you've missed. A beastly endeavor, but that'll get you started. Secondly, what kind of games are you looking for? Concept games, sidescrollers, or RPGs? List of Everybody E...

The reason that people with both good and bad traits are more sympathetic is because humans are, with one exception, that way. It's not possible to be wholly bad or pure evil. In fact, pure evil is an oxymoron. Badness is about being damaged and imperfect; a villain who is stupid, weak, a complete ...

Was anyone interested in my writing articles enough to want to read another one? Yes, they were great. I also want to see 8-bit's music article finished. And it would be nice if someone wrote more articles about developing interesting battles, whether through OHR default or something plotscripted (...

what the magazine needs is more monthly contribution. maybe a Q&A section about the OHR, game making, plotscripting, what have you. a monthly comic strip would be cool too (i'm neither artistic nor funny, so that would have to be someone else's department). This may be one of the reasons why Su...

As usual, I really enjoyed the puppet photos, and that whole making a character out of pizza cheese should be adopted into thematic restaurants (where Italian isn't the theme). It's also been awhile since we last had a solid in-depth preview, and I was happy to see one here. As far as features go, I...

You guys haven't even seen its story yet...

If only Nintendo itself would become so bold to tell it.
