Re: Buelle All right! I've got a complete dungeon and a couple of other maps. There's still quite a bit of polishing to do, but I believe the game-play is solid enough. It'd be great if someone(s) could volunteer to play-test the game to confirm this and to make suggestions on how to improve the ga...

Spoonweaver wrote:by zelda II do you mean that you'll be walking around a world map and then get into battles that are sidescroller stages?
While that would be interesting, I'm mainly interested in the incorporation of RPG-elements and the swordplay (jump/downward/upward stabs) of the game.

This would look tons better if you gave your maps a Z offset (making the hero/NPCs float just a little). No scripting required.

Looking forward to it.
:O

I figured that the [put hero] were rendering the z-offset useless, but it is great that it doesn't. Thanks! :v:

Wow, this is surprisingly fluid!
Though the rarity of save spots and mp is kind of troublesome.

I kind of wanna make a side-scroller of my own now.

Looks like each of them has only been voted on by a few people-- probably half of them people who go "wat teh hek? tis is not 3d! fail!" A good majority of the games on their 'Top Games' list aren't 3D, so this probably isn't the case. It also seems like it's pretty tough to hold a solid ...

Review: Toy Town

I have been seeing this game pop up on numerous occasions as CP's front page random game and I found it intriguing every single time. Unfortunately, I never bothered to give it a download. I really wish I had given this a try much earlier :( Toy Town lets you do exactly what it advertises: "Pla...

Exposing the OHR to a wider audience is always nice, but asking for permission to post someone else's game seems like a common sense thing to do. But I guess there's no harm done since the authors have been credited appropriately for the most part. Also, I'm sure that we've been spreading a bunch of...

The Gimp is a pretty great program for everybody (free too!). If you want speed, I guess you could just airbrush the proper lighting onto it and then go over it with dithering, if necessary. Also, remember! Because each map can support 3 layers and each layer can have its own tilemap, you can essen...

(In fairness, I think this community is on vacation, as games don't seem to trigger much interest or response anymore--unless the game sucks, which unfortunately begets the incentive to create more crappy games.) I think this is a bit unfair. I'm sure that no one actually enjoys the attention recei...
