Actually, I kinda like the HUD idea, seems that it'd be pretty cool. And you'd be able to use the hero ready meters as charging meters for the different parts or something.

Not a bad idea. Only hitch I can see is the "Finally, during battles, set up your heros battle placement such that all the parts of the mech will fit together (overlap each other) such that your mech appears to be one single unit" part. Otherwise, nifty.

To my knowledge, no they can't unfortunately.

I could be wrong though. I think they can be flipped though, but again, I could be wrong.

Yeah, that game was awesome. Major inspiration for the portraits actually. And while I'm at it, I'll throw this guy out as well: http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r552/ld2i/anthracite_sample03_zps63d56d57.png Not sure if I got the scarred right side of the face correctly. I may have to decrease th...

First attempt to pixel a portrait without working off a base. I've always either worked off a generated face or a rendered head.

I know for sure Ultima did it (kinda) with its runic alphabet. Heh, back in the day I could read it no problem without having to change the letters =p I think Space Quest might have done it, it sounds like the sort of thing those games would do. I can't be sure though, it's been a while since I've p...

Oh, wasn't putting you down or anything, just commenting. It is pretty cool as an Easter egg in games, just not so much as actual cryptography =p But yeah, neat to have scattered about in games.

I didn't notice it in our game, I'll have to go back and look at it then.

It's pretty much just substitution, I'm guessing. Tedious, but not all that difficult. Kinda like those crypto-quote things that showed up in papers. Now, if you had done some really cunning cryptography stuff that didn't just substitute letters, that would be most impressive, hehe.

I'm game. Might finish either my survival roguelike, my traditional roguelike, or my cyberpunk game. No way is Legacy going to be done in time, heh.

How about a tie-in with HotOHR 2014?

EDIT:

Then again, that might be a bad idea as it prolongs the FYDG contest period far too long.

Forget I said anything.

Hmm, no takers thus far?

What if I were to offer to run a cyberpunk-ish d20 Modern game?
