Well yes, I *had* planned on adding "wave" and "rumble" animations, with adjustable amount, and random or cyclic colour swapping. Any others?

Drat, hosting images on CP backfired.

Thanks for all the testing. There seem to be multiple bugs here, like the "Data directory data/defaultgfx not found" message. And it's hard for me to make sense of everything in these logs. I don't know what causes "Failed to find display resolution: 1024x640x32". In a week's tim...

The animation editor will be completely separate. The sprite editor ought to gain features to help drawing animations like previous/next frame buttons and onion skins. Nothing to invalidate. The sprite editor bothers me every time I enter it too. I made a very small start a couple days ago on conver...

Ha, that actually looks kind of disturbing -- an accurate depiction entering a lava-filled chamber. The non-realism of every other game has always stood out to me/broke immersion.
But it would be surprising if it had no effect on you, if it was possible to fight battles in such an area.

Gorgonzola retrospective -227 svn commits (by James and I) -32 bug reports -about 30 fixes to reported bugs (and a bunch of unreported ones) -0 devlog entries I'm really bad at blogging. Gorgonzola was meant to finish a bunch of features that weren't done for Fufluns, but the only one that actually...

To notice the problem on Windows, try watching the framerate counter. Press ctrl-` (tilde key) once or twice to see the draw/display framerate. Draw FPS means the tick rate at which the engine logic runs, Display FPS is how many of those frames actually get sent to the OS for display, which can be l...

Games aren't distributed on floppies anymore, so ultimately whatever type of game it is, what it looks like matters hugely get getting attention, not the box art. Spoonweaver posted a large list of places to try to advertise your game in the Promoting your game! thread. Old but still useful. Bringin...

This is a known bug in our frame rate control, and causes random framerate drops which get larger the closer the game is set to 60fps, but has the biggest effect on Macs where it halves the framerate when set to 60fps. It's been around a long time. Sorry I haven't gotten around to fixing it, I know ...

Ah, makes sense. I had actually forgotten that that's how demos work in the real world. Or that you're selling this, apparently.

And you have to collect your own ingredients around the world?

Another season of bughunting wrapped up for the Gorgonzola release (err, a month ago), and the results are finally in! 32 valid bugs were reported during those 4 months -- that is, bugs reported between Fufluns and Gorgonzola. I didn't forget about this, I just didn't get around to writing code to g...

Cooking minigame! Damn, I should have seen that one coming. And it seems a sensible idea to be building the player up to the minigame for a while instead of introducing it early, when it could be more of a distraction from the core. It all looks great. A new demo! How many demos are you planning on?...

I had almost forgotten about my attempt at automatically translation of games. I got pretty far. I'll pick it up again when I feel the urge. Hamstervania (working title) isn't anywhere near finished, or even an RPG at this point.... but I would tentatively like to enter it. You mean it might become ...

With the ability to scatter heroes around the screen all willy-nilly, here's a feature that now seems obviously missing: ability to choose which direction heroes and enemies face, so that the heroes move right when they step forward and left when they flinch and the enemies do the opposite. The mos...

Oh yes, HotOHR always brings new and familiar faces out of the woodwork :) Honestly, what would be great is an easy way to add an "Escape" option to battle menus. Holding down escape to run isn't entirely intuitive anyway. Agreed, but how should it work? Run unconditionally? Maybe it shoul...

Lenny: heh, as usual I didn't see most of that reply because you added it later in an edit. Note to reader: Lenny later posted Sub-Pixel-Walker v0.1: Testers not needed with some explanation. ~~~ I finally realised (someone told me) that pixel-walker v2.3 still shows the same script error that v2.0-...
