Bizarre phonetic speeches like these are neat and not too difficult to understand, but if they're used too much, it can get very annoying very fast. The real question here is whether this is a conversation between main characters or minor characters. A one-off NPC dialogue like this is fine, and can...

Let's get a raise of hands. Who thinks he or she can make the deadline (bugfixes included)? I'm gonna make it. I just know it. Despite juggling odd jobs and getting sucked back into Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I think I can make it. I'm sure I can make it! My work ethic tends to get exponentially bett...

I recall the Mother series having pretty tame poisons. In Earthbound , it came in two flavors - light poison in the form of the common cold and sunstroke, and slightly-heavier poison in the form of nausea and... poison. I think it ran the same problem that Final Fantasy did. Outside of Peaceful Rest...

Everything's coming along swimmingly for Viridia . I finished writing all the dialogue and such several days ago, and most of the graphics were done months ago. I think I might actually make the deadline for once. This is a single chapter of the game, and it is a bit story-heavy, but I reckon it'll ...

There's one thing I can proudly boast about - my not-so-long, not-so-graphically-impressive demo will at least have original music. To be honest, I'm backed up with music I can't use yet, so I'd like to include a little soundboard as the reward for clearing the game. I'm thinking of just using a roo...

Where's Your Entry? was a bit of an eye-opener. I was admittedly getting anxious about sending out a measely demo, but then I read this: The rules of the contest encourage releasing demos in the old fashion : just to show that something is actually being worked on, even if it isn't yet complete. I ...

I see what you mean, but I'm having trouble imagining a situation where an RPG needs multiple currencies that all go over 99 units. Me, I'd just make the alternate currency item less frequently distributed, and shops that take said item will not ask for exorbitant amounts of it. For example, I just ...

Are you doing that just because you want to make sure that the party is always in the first slots, so you are never organized like [A, B, Empty, B] or [Empty, A, B, C]? Yes, that's exactly why. I noticed when testing an earlier build that the player could switch characters around, and this interfer...

it would be way easier to just edit your regular menu and make the Items option require a tag to be enabled. Oh-oh-ohhhh, that's what Right I got it. And I can't believe how simple it is! Just switch a tag on to make the option selectable. I think I can apply this to future menu-thingies I've been ...

To put a long problem short, How do I change the main menu mid-game? [s]I have two custom menus - I'll be using Menu One (which disables items) in one chapter, and Menu Two (which enables items) in the other. During a plotscript between the two chapters, I'll need to switch which one is brought up w...
