Anyone have any news or updates on their entries? It feels like the thread went silent shortly after the bug was brought up.

Four days and counting, right?

That's a whole 'nother kettle of fish, but I digress. I'd love to see what in the world a Robotnik slime would look like.

Melodic sound effects of dubious quality

(No download links, you'll have to use your imagination!) Today I experimented with a little idea: Instead of using the default 8bit sound effects during battle scenes, I made some one-second melodies that played depending on who or what was attacking. On paper, this sounded like a really neat idea....

This looks like a good place to ask questions. I'm a movie fan who never touched the books, I hope ya'll don't mind, and I have a few questions regarding the latest film: 1) What is that curious mirror shard Harry carries with him? 2) What, and where, is the resurrection stone? 3) Where did the cloa...

Incidentally, I use Opera and Chrome.
I saw the double-embedding thing in Opera, but I did not see any blue text shenanigans.

Haiku impressions, part 2

The contest entries are looking great so far, all things considered. Time for more haikus. EDIT: I just realized that NCW is the creator's username and the name of some kind of enemy unit in Hero . I still have no idea what it means. Eternity Fragment DQ made easy, grind for lots and lots of cash. H...

Haiku impressions, part 1

Seems I've run short of time for working on Viridia this weekend, so I played a few of the other entries and wrote quick haiku reviews with general impressions. Legendary Heroes Blandish but charming, green man looks like Battletoad; fire is killing me. Skyfall The heroes are neat, they have much to...

Thank ya'll so much for the input, it really helps me get some direction as to what to do next. Pacing seems off Incidentally, this is the only thing I didn't quite understand. Can you clarify for me what you meant? I had to stop playing after a bit and hadn't had a save opportunity, so I'll have to...

But what happened to Chapter 1?

Here it is, Viridia. Chapter 2, version 1. Version 2 comes during the bugfix period with bugfixes and some changes to what's already there. You can play it all the way through, but there are some bugs to beware of and a big-lipped alligator ending. Hope ya'll don't mind. Picture related. http://i18...

Viridia - Chapter 2

Version 2 of Viridia: Chapter 2 , an entry to the Heart of the OHR Contest. Follow the [s]glorious[/s] hazardous life of a [s]mercenary[/s] missionary in the desert, struggling to cooperate with the brutal heathens that call it home. It's about as straightforward as can be, but you are still a low-r...

Just so there's no confusion, I'm trying to at least make my game playable to the end of the chapter, and I'm wading through the bugs I made in haste right now.
I'll upload what I have before I go to bed [s]tonight[/s] this morning.

Either-or tag check performs neither

I've got a section in my script where, based on the player's progress, the cutscene will progress in one of two different ways. If the player did poorly, a failure tag will be activated and a less-than-triumphant scene will play. Despite the code being structured like so... if(check tag&...

Oh wow, that is really nifty. People like you inspire me to get creative with elements, even though that can be a tad difficult with only 8 to work with.
