The duplication level is the one with all the oils and fires at the bottom. The tricky part about a fast forward button is that you'd have to do the NPC movement on your own instead of relying on the engine to do it. It's not a huge issue; mostly it'd help on the earlier levels where you're waiting ...

Bugs! In one of the levels -- I forget which one, but I have a screenshot -- the slimes duplicate. I've seen them do it in others, but in this one they do it consistently. Slimes walking left off a platform go into their falling animation as they walk off the platform. Slimes walking right go into ...

I'd really rather you reveal the theme at contest time. That way, if it's particularly interesting, contestants can join on a whim.

Previous 48hr contests have traditionally allowed at least graphics and music. The theme is hidden, so the best you can do is have stock graphics ready. Allowing premade scripts lets you do stuff like use the SS101 library, which I think is good.

Each date will have a specific .RPG file that you must download and use in order to make your project eligible for the contest. As a cheating deterrent, this is no longer nearly as effective as it used to be. What outside work can be used? Are premade graphics allowed? Premade music? Premade script...

You can use the mark-clone tool to copy the head and repaste it after you flip the sprite. ...

The graphics in Vikings of Midgard are free to use. It's highly recommended by the community at large that you eventually learn to make your own, though.

Oh, and welcome :)

If you haven't already, you should play and take a look inside Do You Want to be a Hero? (link in sig). It implements a custom battle engine in a manner not unlike what you're describing. If you are interested (or anyone else is, for that matter), I can make the scripts available.

The short answer is that if you have a decent programming background, you can do pretty much whatever you want. The OHRRPGCE has some limitations, but you haven't begun to touch on them. So suffice it to say that everything you want to do, you can. What I'd recommend is first, if you haven't done so...
