No.

Vire is not equipped to deal with a monster like this (viz., burning), but he does have an ace up his sleeve... maybe. He takes out the golden wand, takes aim, and waves it with all his mi--er, charisma.

Hopefully it's not a wand of haste monster or something dumb like that.

Can you add a "fail if target is dead" bitset, then? Your example of a buff that wears off will mess things up otherwise.
